Hi! My name is Kara. This is my first time posting, but I've been lurking for awhile . . .ever since we decided to get a standard poodle. I've learned a lot about what to look for in a breeder and other great information just by reading. I hope to learn even more by more actively participating.

We plan to "give" our puppy as a Christmas present to our family although we won't actually pick up our puppy until the first part of March. Our breeder, Desertreef, is going to be taking a special picture for us to use. Any ideas on how to present the picture?

Oh, a little more about me. I'm from Northern UT and this will be the first dog for my family but not my husband. He grew up with dogs and horses. So I'll be asking lots of questions.:)

HOW SWEET! You will love Karen her dogs are family and she is very careful what she feeds and what she does shots and everything else .. I cannot say enough good about her...Welcome and good choice in a breeder!!!!
I saw that name, Kara... and hoped it would be you! Welcome to the forum. It's great you will be reading and learning. You will be thrilled when your puppy finally joins the family. Still in the waiting mode... Kia is going to the groomers in about 30 minutes. Then we'll feel 'ready' for the big event. She is looking pretty big while HiD doesn't. :)

And Sheryl... thank you very much! So kind of you!

Karen
Hey karen you are very welcome ! It is all true !
Maybe get a crate and put the picture in the crate?
Thanks for the welcome.

Karen, it's funny that the two girls are carrying so differently. I saw the pictures of HiD on the site and thought she didn't look very pregnant. However, my only experience with pregnancies have been human so I wasn't sure. I'm hoping to hear some exciting news from you soon.

Big red, thanks. I think I chose a good breeder, too. It's good to hear such a compliment from another breeder though. I'm impressed by a lot of her breeding practices but mostly how concerned she is about getting the right puppy for my family and making sure I was the right family for one of her puppies.

Onlypoodles4me, I thought about using a crate or even a doggie bed. What size crate would you suggest?
Welcome to the forum. I'm so glad you came out of hiding...LOL What a fun way to present a new puppy to your family!
Thanks for the welcome.

Hey KC
If not for Karen I would not be the person in Poo that I am . We have been through alot together and I am very grateful and thankful for her and her friendship through the years :) Karen will always be there for you ....
I would get a good size wire crate. I think they call them lifestages this will help to house train as well What a great Idea!
