.... Full moon this weekend  and little 'ol me gearing up for more OB fun and games. Whooooo. (yeah, that's a sarcastic whoooo)

Nicholas was a little goober this morning for our testing. He simple would NOT stay on the monitor. We'd get a good strong heartbeat and think whew, finally we've got him, only to have him start bouncing around, kicking, and twisting and doing heavens only knows what in there and we'd loose him again. It seemed like he was determined to NOT visit with us and let us listen to his heartbeat which is the whole point of the test lol. The nurse finally gave up, they could see I was having contractions but I'm always having contractions so we don't freak out as much anymore about it. Since I was having an ultrasound today anyway for a fluid check they decided the monitoring wasn't important, they'd be able to see what they needed on the ultrasound. Yay.

He tried not to cooperate with that either but the tech was faster than he was. I truly think she mad him mad, it was the funniest thing. She couldn't get a view of his face, not that she needed one she was just trying to let me see him I guess, because he's face down. Thats how he should be now. As she went poking and probing and getting the info she needed she must have bothered him because he was kicking and moving a ton. She went back down low to check to see something else and he turned his head to the side and seemed to looked right at us. I swear all I could think was OMG, I DO have a demon child in there and he's GLARING at me LoL.

Back to the exam room after that to wait to see the doctor. That was ummm well it was interesting.

Leave it to me to come up with yet another developing complication. She starts going over the ultrasound and Tuesday's lab work and she isn't as thrilled as she had hoped. NOW, my fluid levels are almost to high so they have to check again on Monday since I guess that can be a problem? I am also well on my way to developing the pre-eclampsia that they have been watching so closely for yet to be un-able to diagnose me with thus far. Now, my lab work is showing that it is a coming so I have to repeat the labs tomorrow since they cannot let me actually develop it if it can be helped.

All that said she DID ok a date change for my induction. It was set for early next week, they are giving me as much time as they feel safe in doing. I wasn't able to get the date I needed/wanted but I got close, meet in the middle sort of thing. However, my grandparents are comming back a day LATER now and my dad is going to be out of town himself that day so that was a big waste to even bother changing it. Shoot!

Then she went and did my hoo hoo exam to check and see how things were going and we got another surprise... leave it to me right? LoL. In, lets see whats it been now... less than a week or right at a week, I've progressed pretty quickly. I went from just barely 1cm and 50% with baby nowhere near low enough for her to feel to 3cm and 80% and she can feel his head really well. I cant remember what thats called station 1 or -1 or something or other. No wonder I've been in such pain down below lately. She's hoping of course that I'll make it to my set date but she told me to not be surprised AT ALL if I went into labor as soon as tonight. She doesnt expect to get any Leia Johnson is here in L&D phone calls tonight but she said it could happen. Bummer, she grounded me from going to the agility trial with Saleen this weekend though. I soooo wanted to take her and walk her around, she strongly advised against it and reminded me (with a grin and one of those mtherly peering over the glasses looks) that I am SUPPOSED to be on bed rest! sorry... Still going to take both the spoo girls to the retirement home on Sunday though, she ok'd that since it isn't really much walking around and standing, I actually don't have to do anything. John and my mom could walk the girls out on the stage for the presentation if I wanted. She said to be careful grooming the poodles. I tried my best to look innocent but she didn't buy it, said she KNEW I would do it anyway and that was ok but NO lifting, and No standing to blow dry or clip face and feet. Said she would call John's office and tell him too LoL. Greeat!

Soooooo, this is it, where we are now... Likely our last baby free weekend. I have a ton to do, mainly shampoo the carpets and clean everything as well as I can. Need to make a couple of meals too and get the dogs clean, and finish decorating the nursery and washing baby clothes. I almost wish I could go until my due date, that would give me a month to accomplish all the finishing touches.

After 36 weeks, I was allowed to resume normal duties. I've heard it's better to go into labor naturally, so maybe a little walking would do you some good ;) Good luck!

I actually was thinking about that Tina. I am taking evening primerose oil to help things along. I was trying to get those parts primed to make the induction easier on me since it they were as ready as they could be then less force (inthe form of drugs) would be required to really jump start labor. She doesn't want me to though?? There's *ahem* another thing hubby and I could do that wouldn't require much on my part but we aren't supposed to be playing those game either... though I'm feeling like we could do it anyway if hubs would agree. He's so paranoid though, he's going to hurt the baby ROFL... Now there's an ego for you!!

so exciting - and yes, I agree, if little man wants to come on his own, (since they plan to go early anyway) I definitely think it would be easier on your body.
Just think - you get to meet him soon! :) AND get your body back!

How exciting! From your exam stats, it sounds like you are well on your way! 3cm is great, and if she can feel his head, even better! Even if you do end up being induced, things should happen quickly for you. The conditions sound favorable down there! LOL! I am one of those people that doesn't dilate until I am actively in labor! :eek:hwell: My last pregnancy I was induced at 42 weeks, and when I went in for the induction, I was barely 1 cm dilated, and only 50% effaced, and baby was way up there! I only had Cervadil, no Pitocin, and things happened pretty quickly once I got going. From what you describe, I have a feeling you will end up going soon, and not having to be induced. Just take it easy, and keep that blood pressure down! You are at the home stretch, and pretty soon that little boy of yours will be in your arms! Hang in there!! :)

Redcricket, I was hoping to get the cervadil but doctor said she was going to do pitocin. I trust her and so won't argue. Of course if it was the high risk guy who had suggested that to me I would have argued and argued and argued without so much as stopping to think if it would be best or not. Thats just me.

I am still cramping and cramping and those hurt. I don't want to go this weekend because L&D will busy busy. I told hubby I better get a good room, I don't want to be in one of the spare rooms or the exam rooms that can convert to delivery rooms. I want the real room lol with the tub and the big screen and dvd player and all the bells and whistles. I might take the spoos on a walk around the block like on Tuesday though because by then all those full mommies will have been released and it will be ok if I happen to go into labor on my own. Just trying to hold off for the weekend though. Hahaha, battling the moon and a low pressure system - nice :p

From my experience with Pre-eclampsia (and it wasn't pleasant and kind of happened over the course of 48 hours or so), they probably want to induce you to keep an eye on your BP and everything else. However, I think the process of induction is almost MORE stressful than pre-eclampsia. For me, I had a killer headache on Friday, went into L&D, they monitored me overnight and sent me home, because they were full. By Monday evening, I was back in L&D being induced. If I had maybe foregone bedrest that weekend, I might have going into labor on my own. I dunno. I just know by Tuesday I was completely miserable and I am unaffected by pitocin and sat in labor until Thursday night  At that point I just begged for the c-section.

My mother had pre-e with me. She didnt know it either, this was 26 yrs ago and she was going to a military hospital. She had no warning but in hindsight she did have a few symptoms like swelling and headaches. They weren't monitoring her at all really so she didn't know. She went in for her regular appointment and her BP was so high they admited and induced her right away. She had seizures within an hour to two so I have to agree that perhaps induction was more stress than her body needed? She couldn't be given pain meds of any type because of the siezure and had to be restrained (strapped to the bed). I told John he needed to bring a hammer or something to the hospital because if I found myself in that situation you might as well just knock me out. I have a problem being restrained or in small tight spaces, I would FREAK to find myself tied to a bed.

B/c pre-e can run in families as soon as my blood pressure started to rise they started paying attention and running lab work. When it really got high that first time, I think that was 6 or 8 wks ago now?? I am soooo lost in my concept of time now lol. Anyway they admited me asap and were unhappy with my lab work - elevated liver enzymes which would point to full blown eclampsia or HELLP which can cause serious damange thats perminate or even kill you. Of course not to be dramatic but asprin can kill you lol. They were going to give me a set number of hours for my BP to come down and double check the labs (they didn't share any of this info with me until after the fact which is probabably a good thing). The conversation at the time between the OB and the specialist was not wether or not to transfer me to the main hopsital for an emer. c-section, it was can we wait a few hours and then send her by ground or do we need to call and have her go by air. I was 28 weeks I think so we would have had to be delivery at the main hospital where the NICU is. Our hospital doesn't have a NICU.

I'm really hoping not to need much pitocin, I understand that it often makes contractions more intense/painful. I want to go as long as possible without an epidural because I want to be able to get up and move around and go pee on my own. I also am just sick enough to want to make my hubby watch me labor somewhat in pain for what he's done to me ROFL. Poor guy, he'll probably be watching TV or playing on my laptop and won't even notice - jerk. He had this crazy idea that if I happened to be in labor mon-fri that he would be able to go down to his office in the main part of the hospital and work while I was up in the birthing center.. Uhhhh NO.
