Funny! A friend of mine is from Haiti and she does not understand the pampered lives pets live here, and says they live better than most people in her country. When I had a faculty position, I used to bring Max in and students from other countries would be afraid of him, as dogs in their countries were often feral. I had to make sure he didn’t approach them. It’s interesting, but sad the think about the divide in wealth in the world.
I now Need to leave to battle traffic and slog away at my job while the dogs lounge on a comfy couch all day....hmmmmm....

When I was in college (a long time ago!) my anthropology professor had just gotten back from Papua New Guinea where he had been living with a small tribe of native people. He said it was a real culture shock to come back to the US and see commercials for special foods for overweight dogs!

I love that commercial! We are first world about our pets and sadly, even here, they live better than many people.
