Something that we've been noticing as we've slowly increased the length and intensity of Loki's walks is that for sessions longer than 30 minutes (this is including breaks where we just sit and work on relaxing while outside), is that he tends to poop more than once. The consistency of the first poo is always fine, but the consistency after the first time is usually very runny. And it often is this weird thing where he'd raise a leg to mark, but then switch at the last minute to a squat for the poo. But on his next walk a couple of hours later, his poo is usually well-formed again, even if it's a little softer than usual.

This has been happening only on his long walks and he's acting normally before, during, and after the runny-poo walk. I'm completely lost as to what might be causing this. The only thing similar that came to mind is runner's trots, but do dogs get that? And is this something that we should keep an eye on/take him to the vet for?

Peggy's second poop is often less solid, and she is famous (at least in our house lol) for her great poops.

And yes, exercise will often jostle one out.

The one thing I'd personally keep an eye on is Loki's emotional state. Is he stressed? Over-excited/adrenalized? That can lead to urgent poops.

This happens to Misha all the time. Lots of exercise (especially with drinking) will cause loose stools. Nothing to worry about.
