Enzo's show was a diaster

Well We went to the show today and was so DISAPPOINTED because my sister and Enzo did not even get to go in the ring.

What happen was we went to the show stewart 40 mins beforethe poodles where showing. My sister told him this was her first show and we needed the number. Well the stewart ( which was a very old man) looks in the catalog and just gives my sister a number.

So 1:35 comes and she is standing there waiting to be call in the ring. I see the only dog that was in his class in the ring I ran up to her and asked my sister are you sure your not supposed to be in the ring ? she went to stewart and asked him again did you call 10 ? he said no.... Then another handler ran up to us and tells us you should be in the ring now you have a male dog but have a even number.... So she went to the stewart again He looks in his book and sees he gave her the wrong number. He was being so nasty and rude about it making it seem like it was my sisters fault and he was saying i called you in the ring already ..... we did not have the right number so we where listening for 10 and not 5 ... He said there is nothing he could do.

I was so mad and sad because I think he could have won his class. The whole time I thought the black puppy in the ring was a bitch . he was really small so I think Enzo had a chance.

We just left after that and we thanked the other handlers for at least speaking up and telling us.

:(:weep:

Well that sucks! Did you happen to get the ring stewards name? I would let the Kennel Club you were showing at know what happened at at least get your entry fee back.

Don't worry there will be more shows for him to conquer!

Well his name is in the catalog I think so we will be emailing the superintendents and the club. So I hope we get our money back.
Oh I am so sorry to hear that your first experience was so horrible! Unfortunately your only consolation is that you were able to see what his competition looks like and what his future competition looks like. On the bright side just think... you'll have your handlers' help for next time. :eyebrows:
WOw, roxy that sucks!! Sorry about that!!
Thanks guys

here are thr few pictures I took of some dogs before I found out what happened

That's soo upsetting. Thats the kind of crap I hate with AKC. It doesn't happen often but they can be rude even when they are the idiot! Is Enzo entered for tomorrow?

Are those picks of the Bitches? They have no bone and arent much to look at. Where you impressed by any other Poodles there?

No he is not entered for tomorrow ... now I wish he was because that puppy who was in his class was so SMALL ! I wish I took a picture of him but the handler with silver poodle was in the way.

I am not even sure what class the two black dogs where in I was just waiting for Enzo to get in the ring and , when I saw these two dogs I knew something has happened, since puppies are always first.

No I was only impressed with one dog and it was the dog that the handler who helped us had.
Personally I would have made a formal complaint against the stewart. Its takes a lot of time and money to not only enter dogs but petrol, hard work doing the dog and some ppl paying others to do them. Next time complain.

Also please never make the assumption that a dog could have won due to height. There are many dogs that are small that have fantastic conformation.
at the end of the day, sometimes the nicer dog wont win and everything is just a judges decision. You could put 4 judges in the ring and get different results.
Just a thought on your sisters skirt. I also go to a mastiff board as I had one and still like to read about the ones Duke grew up with.
Anyways a woman was showing her puppy and had on a skirt. as she bent down it went over the side of the lattice fence so people behind her kept wispering to her but she didn't want to move or dog would well YEP it got stuck so judge told her to move her dog around ring fence moved all dogs moved and was quite the site LOL.

She swears she will only ever where pants from now on
Wow, I am sorry to hear this!! That had to be extremely upsetting. Definitely if something happens like that again you should file a formal complaint. In fact, I think you still may be able to, call the AKC on Monday and tell them what happened and you want to make a complaint. You paid your money, you were there at the ringside, you were not given you dog's number... which is odd seeing as the steward is supposed to match up your dogs name to the number he gives you, and they ask which class so they look at the right class for your dog, if you did tell him that your dog was entered in 'puppy dog' class then he should not have given you a bitches number and he should have matched up your dog's name to the number anyway.

Good luck in your next show!!

We did complain but every one said there is nothing they could do .......

Well it was nit just the dogs height .... that I was making the assumption .... The dog was not that great looking in general the height was the most noticeable. In AKC Judges really do not pic small dogs where you live its probably different ....

Yes We are going to call the superintendent tomorrow to get our money back and to complain.
I forgot to say the only good thing that came out of this was that Enzo did not drool or vomit. He also was well behaved outside the ring lol
Sorry to hear that Enzo didn't get into the ring, Roxy. I hope you get your fees back and there's always next time. Have you entered him in any other shows?
Roxy -

So sorry to hear what happened to the two of you. The steward should have given you the correct number. J

ust a helpful hint for you - when you are entered in an AKC show, you are sent a slip by the show chair ahead of time that has your dog's info/number on it. Just take this to the show with you and check and double check. I am always paranoid about getting the wrong number, missing my class, etc...

Well his next shows will be UKC I think we might try 2 in AKC also since Chris Bailey from Jaset poodles and Peggy Mcdill from espree poodles will be there to help us so nothing should go wrong next time at the AKC show.

Thanks for that info I didn't even know it would be listed on the receipt
I will make sure we get his number and just tell the steward.
