Have your dogs ever tried to walk themselves? What I mean by this is
when I take mine for walks, we'll be walking along and they will take
their leash in their mouth and pull on it like their trying to walk themselves!
I don't see it as them misbehaving or anything, I think it's funny, lol!
My two boys are clowns...

Yep...

Alex used to do that. He always thought he should be in charge of the walk. We had to have a conversation about this every time we went out for a little while. He'd still try to sneak it in at the end. Ah, power games....

Some of mine have done that. It always makes me laugh but I do correct them for it because I don't want them to chew up expensive leashes lol. I don't think they are trying to control the situation personaly but a lot of people are of that opinion. Saleen chews on her leash and tries to grab out it while out on walks and I definitly know that there aren't any questions (at least so far) about her status in our family. LoL.

Romeo (my champagne standard) did this ever since he was a puppy. He used to walk my late English Setter all the time, he love to do it to Brandy (my red female) and he will also try to walk himself. He doesn't do it to misbehaving, but strictly for the reaction, especially when others are watching. He is such a showoff!!!

If you want to stop the leash-biting, just come to a halt and use a "negative" command ("NO" or whatever), begin walking again, and stop again if he/she grabs the leash. They learn quickly that they'll need to let go if you're going to walk!

My old labrador used to take the lead rope off me and run my horse up the lane and into the barn, it was so funny to see, they loved playing together.

Flyer does it but is only allowed to do it with his agility leash..where we actually do tug with that least but if I happen to drop the leash he will pick it up and run around with it in his mouth..also if the other dogs have their leashes on he'll try take their leashes and try to bring them back to me.

OLie is the only one that will do something similar. When we get inside from walks depending on the situationwe will drop the leashes before we have taken them off and he wilol go pick one up and walk the dog over to me, "LIKE MOM. LET'S GO"!! It's very adorable<,,
