Over the months of owning Cardi, my Mini Poodle, I have noticed he does this really funny thing. Whenever we walk out of the room and return, or walk away from him and then return, he will crouch down and make himself real small and when we get close enough he will jump up as if he is pouncing at us. I can only compare it to how a cat will hide in the bushes and pounce when it is going after prey. It is really weird. And he does it almost everytime.

Do your poodles do this, or have you ever seen a dog do this?

I work at a Kennel and i've seen quite a few small dogs do that, just out of play. I dont think its anything to worry about unless he pees on the floor when he crouches or is growling. Hopefully he is just playing. =P

Gunther does this all the time, especially outside.
He crouches down and then starts moving very low and slow towards me.
It's a game to them, however, I am trying to discourage him to do that as towards the end he runs and leaps on me.

Oh, Cardi is always just playing. He thinks this is great fun. I try to ignore it because I personally don't care for it, but he always tried to entice me to play with him by doing this. It's funny though.
