Hi everyone, I feel kind of stupid asking this, but here goes!

I've had my poodle for almost 3 years now, I love the fact he doesn't shed everywhere.
However I've noticed a pattern going on... Every year, around about now (Sept-Nov) he starts getting matted much faster than he does the rest of the year.

It's spring time here in Australia so most dogs are moulting and shedding their winter coats. What I'm wondering is do poodles lose some hair during shedding season too, causing them to get matted faster?

At least one of mine does have a strong seasonal shed and needs more brushing around the same time all the double coated dogs are blowing coat. Wry grin her coat change and seasonal change occured together and I was so worried as I was getting huge handfuls of hair off her ears... it took a trip to her breeder and a good grooming by her to help calm me down. It is just how she sheds. The others don't have such a marked seasonal shedding pattern and it is interesting as two are closely related to her.
