Came across an article that mentioned a supposed link between hard water and urinary issues in our dogs. I myself am constantly battling with UTIs have switched to distilled water for now. Our water is not just hard it is extremely hard. I don't like sodium based water softening systems but am considering buying an in home distillation filter for our water. Does anybody give their dogs distilled water for drinking?

Our water is over 100 grains of hardness, but we use potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride in our water softener. We have a reverse osmosis unit in the kitchen - that supplies drinking/cooking water for people and dogs.
