I'm getting ready to bring home our mini in a few weeks and have been doing some research on grooming tools, specifically brushes for a poodle coat.

I want to keep our tools pretty simple and think that we are going to just get a good quality slicker brush (thinking of splurging on the CC Coral I keep reading about here) and a bristle/pin brush.

I've read on some resources that for a puppy coat, it should be sufficient just to have a bristle/pin brush.

What have your experiences been? Should I get both brushes up front? Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance!

You will want a Greyhound style butter comb to comb your dog to the skin. A professional groomer mentioned brushes can help fluff the coat but the comb is critical to avoid any mat developing next to the skin.

Thank you everyone for your input!

I think for their puppy coat I'll stick with a greyhound style comb and a pin brush, and once the thicker adult coat starts growing out will add in a slicker brush.
