I have a girl approaching two years old. She is close to coming into heat and I plan to have a litter. This isn't my first time though I am no expert.

An "expert" I know tells me she is underweight and I shouldn't breed.

She is 30cm at the shoulder and 3kg. That's 12 inches and 6.5 pounds.

She is an active dog and eats what I give her. I feed her a fresh premium meat mix each evening which contains vegetables etc. She also has dry food available 24/7 and grazes on it through the day. She wouldn't even empty her small bowl on a daily basis.

The sire is slightly smaller and slightly heavier.

Should I be concerned?

That does sound on the low side, even for a leggy poodle. Poppy at that age was about the same size and 4.25kg, about 9 pounds, which vet and I reckoned was her perfect weight. What does your vet say?
