went out to the parents' farm yesterday with us, and he and his brother didn't even do the dominance fight thing this time!! woo-hoo! I hope this means he's getting better... Seems to me he just doesn't like a nose up his butt, but honestly I think I'd bite someone too if they did that to me! haha!

I'm still scared to take him to the offleash though, or bring him around my grandmother's mini schnauzers. Ever since he bit that little dog at the Groomer's I've been so paranoid!!

Does your poodle show aggression to other dogs? He has been well socialized but he has his bad days and I'm scared he'll hurt a smaller dog one of these days...

What did the groomer say happened? Honestly, usually the little ones dish it out but when the other dog gets tired of it, the little ones act like there dieing. Did the groomer really see just what happened? Did the other dog have puncture marks or was bleeding?

Im sure Im sounding prejudice against small dogs but Ive seen people exaggerate situations because the small dog got the best of it. (but they deserved it)

P.S. I own a little dog too, she usually IS the instagator. lol

Why is your dog biting another dog at a groomers? Bad form on behalf of the groomer not to keep all dogs safe that are in her care. I would be devastated if that had happened at our place (we run a small boarding kennel and do some very basic grooming on the side).

We certainly find here the smaller dogs are the instigators - they snarl and snap at everything, we don't let the dogs mix so haven't had any problem with biting but through the kennel doors it's the little ones that'll have a go.

Big dogs can be just as bad, in their face and attack. One person I mentioned about on here, but lives in my country her standards are so spoilt and have gone to jump off the trolley to have a go at mine and other ppls dogs. Little dogs like my tiny Cleo is a pain in the ar$e too, she just loves to go for any dog.

I do agree with BF though, why wasnt the groomer having all the dogs crated/penned out of harms way. I dont understand this. Dont get too paranoid you can pass it on to the dog. He may hate little dogs, who knows, but you need to get him out more often so you can suss him out.

The only thing I figured was this is also a doggy daycare. The groomer I use in town grooms and does doggie daycare. So when Eli used to go he just plays till grooming time and then plays after.Of course she evaluates the dogs before letting them play with the other's. Eli always loved going and Im thinking of dropping Mikey off for the day to get doggie socialized.

Im just concerned that keeping Bauer away from dogs now, might make things worse in the long run. If you want a dog to be social with other dogs then you have to get them out there with other dogs.

My Pitbull about 3 yrs ago got out of a kennel in my backyard and then out from under my fence. She woundered to my neigbors yard around the corner. However the lady thought it would a good idea (stupid) to let her Pitbull (female) out so my dog would leave her yard. Her dog attacked my Pitbull and my Lotus came running home. Then the lady called animal control to my house to break up the dog fight. When animal control got to my house her dog was still on top my dog, on MY front porch. Of course my Lotus fought back and animal control had to get the stick out and escort HER dog to the lady. My Lotus walked to the truck and jumped in even after all that. When I picked her up at the pound she was even kenneled with another female Pitbull. The animal control officer said that something was very fishy on her behalf. I was ****ed to say the least. Even to this day when I walk the canal that runs behind her house her Pitbull try's to come through the fence at any dog walking by. I can't belive that Lady!!!!

What Im getting at is even after a BAD situation like that my Lotus still loves every dog she meets. (small or large) Let Bauer have the chance to prove himself and go from there. HE MAY NOT OF BEEN THE INSTIGATOR!
