We live in the northeastern part of the US, and although the weather is still cool right now, mosquito season is around the corner. I'm currently giving my toy poodle Sentinel Spectrum for heartworm preventative--I only give it to him April to October when mosquitos are active here. It looks like Sentinel Spectrum also takes care of fleas, which I don't need. I'm looking for a basic heartworm pill....the less toxic ingredients, the better. I cringe every time I give my toy the pill, I don't like giving him anything pesticide-like to ingest. What do you use for your heartworm preventative? Recommendation for a basic heartworm pill that doesn't have all the extras? Anyone decide not to give their poodles heartworm pills?
