According to Dolce's breeder, he's considered a brindle... He was in our local on-line classified ads last winter as a give-away because the family who owned him could no longer care for him (the man of the house had medical issues and could not walk Dolce and they didn't have a fenced yard so the poor guy spent 100% of his outside time on the end of a chain!)
He was a few days short of 1 year old when we picked him up... Apparently the owners we got him from bought him from the original owner (who got him from a breeder in Texas and paid $1500 for him!!) because the original owner could no longer care for him... Poor Dolce!! Less than 1 year old and he had already struck out of his second home! We took him because we knew we'd be more picky about finding a forever home for him since the guy who had him was just giving him away (although we found out that he had TRIED to sell him for $100 then $50 and got no calls so they put him in as a giveaway... and WE were the ONLY ones who called!) Weird!!
A woman I work with fell in love with him and has taken him into her home. Her husband is mostly retired (although they still have farmland and he takes Dolce with him when he checks the irrigation lines and stuff...) They absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him and I get the added bonus of babysitting him when they need that service! They've taken him to obedience classes and have made connections with other standard poodle owners. Judy's husband has learned how to do the in-between grooming (they keep him pretty short now - but it suits him!) and because he's mostly retired he and Dolce spend lots of time together!
So... yeah... sorry for the long story to the simple question!

Linda Traylor was his breeder in Texas and she told me he is a brindle (we never talked about the parti factor, but I would guess he's a brindle/parti because of the patches of color...)
Thanksgiving should be fun at our house! Three standard poodles under the age of 2... a mini dachshund and our mix, Hannah-banana!!
I think I need a drink...
