Archie's Next Adventure

A couple of weeks ago as Archie and I were practicing a little bit of obedience, it popped into my head that he would be a great therapy dog someday. I let it pop right back out of my head, because I am busy. Really really busy! I focused on the "someday" part... someday, but not now. Over the next week, therapy dog work came up in conversations around me too many times to be coincidental. So today Archie took the TDI test and then did his first observed therapy visit. Smart boy passed with flying colors and was a hit with the residents in the rehab/nursing home. Two more observed visits that go well and he'll be able to don a therapy dog vest. My best boy is such a good boy!!

Yeah, Archie is a great poodle ambassador and will bring so much comfort and joy to residents and visitors alike:)

Service Dogs and Therapy Dogs are two totally different things! Therapy dogs needs it's own forum.

Update on Archie's therapy dog journey...

Chiropractic college library - loves it and is a regular monthly visitor
Middle school - loved the IDD classroom, and hated the hallway during class change - too raucous
County library summer reading program kickoff party - ahhhhhhhhhhh, that's just right!

Archie is my third therapy dog and the first one who liked being read to by children. I'm over the moon - this is what I've always wanted to focus on! Gooooooood boy, Archie! 🐾💖🐾

Awwwww yay Archie! I took my good girl Emily to the daycare that I was the assistant director at quite often. She loved to go into the 4 and 5 year old room and be read to. 💖

LOL...he loved having the kids sit on his blanket with him. Love watching him learn and enjoy new things. And if I never hear Pig the Pug again, that'll be fine with me! :ROFLMAO:

I love that you're finding where he can best serve. We all - human and critter - do best when we're working from our strengths and not trying to live life from our weaknesses. He is a very lucky boy to have such a sensitive, open-minded person at the end of his leash.
