To be honest, I learned to groom using teflon poodle combs and have never used anything else, so I really don't know if ordinary combs are more staticy (is that a word?). One thing you can do is spray the coat lightly with something like bark2basics anti-stat spray or biogroom or coat handler (they come ready to use). Spray about 6" from the coat working one small section at a time. Don't saturate the coat - one light spray will do. It totally removes the static so you can scissor/clip them in that area. A bottle of the anti-stat spray lasts a very long time.
