I'm with T- When my dogs become aggressive or show inappropriate behavior, I use my hand like a bite and touch them firmly in the neck and say "no!" firmly. As soon as they show any sign of relaxing (a sign of submission), I relax the touch. If they start to act up again, I make the touch more firm again. When they display the proper behavior, I give them a lot of praise, hugs and fuss over them so they know that they have done the right thing.
The dog has to see you as the pack leader because that is what is normal in their world. Otherwise they will take over and you will have difficulty getting respect from them. This can lead to all sorts of problems.
