52 Weeks of ELROY, Wool 'N Wind Standard Poodle

4/21/2021 was Elroy's Gotcha day! He's 8 weeks old, plus a day! He made the 1 hour drive home, on my 85 y/o Dad's lap, without a hitch! Very cool, calm, and collected! I'm going to start this thread off with some pre-gotcha day photo's! The journey begins!

I want to show Poppy Elroy with his lovely intact toys!!
Poppy has a little bear too....
Elroy is very gentle with his stuffed toys. His (day 1) squirrel log is the only stuffed toy he's ever even torn. This "Santa Bear" is one he found curbside when he was about 4 months old. He still fondles it daily. He's pulled a little "wool" out his nose, but otherwise it's not damaged. I've never had to throw a toy away because it was mutilated.

No, Poppy is a destructive little so and so when it comes to her toys.
I have to say, deconstructing them, destuffing, removing squeakers is a 'skill' she has developed.
She might have been a surgeon in another life!
Another 'funny' thing is that little pieces she removes from a toy then become prized poccessions!
Often she will go to her toy box ( tool box I say), and gets some little bit of cloth she has stripped from a toy and prances around with it, wanting to play.

Today we had a "Take a Vet Fishing" day at my clubs (freshly stocked) trout pond. I brought Elroy and figured I'd give him a try out as a therapy dog. There were a LOT of people there, at least 100 I'd say. Many disabled vets, many able vets. We did laps around the pond all day long interacting with people who seems interested in meeting Elroy. He was a big hit and never once misbehaved! I could immediately see the calming affect of his charm as they pet him and offered (provided) treats. Elroy loved it as much as they did (and so did I). Some vets were really into fishing, others were more interested in socializing. Event was from 8-2:30 everyone had a good time. I wasn't taking pictures during his interactions as I wanted to pay close attention to him to make sure he was well behaved. I did get a couple of pictures afterwards though.

Well you know what they say! Time flies when you're having fun! Hard to believe it's been a year already. I'm so glad I'll have this thread to look back on to refresh all the great experiences and wonderful pictures!
