Default Really hating people this morning, part 2...

I didn't hear it, but at around 10:00 PM last night BF heard a crash and looked out the window to find that once again the crash involved one of our cars, this time his! The people (one of whom was arrested on the spot for a DUI) hadn't left and withing a couple of minutes there were 5 or 5 police vehicles and an ambulance at the scene. We both have insurance with the same company. They are going to be surprised to hear roughly the same accident report from the same address.

UUUUggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and

AAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no!!! The stinks big time. However since this time they have caught the perpetrator and if he has insurance your insurance company will be able to collect from them. But one gain you are inconvenienced. I just don't understand why people cannot be more considerate of one another. 1. you don't drink then drive. I have no tolerance for that. Here they are still making illegal turns. WE even have lights at designated areas and areas for left turns only. Yesterday I almost got hit making a right (so I can go left) so I am at the light which turns green giving me access to get right over to left lane for the next turn and what happens a person on the opposite side of the road (in the left hand turn light only( proceeds to make an illegal turn right into my lane. At least I am aware they do this all the time so I was careful. It society today..everything is about me, how fast me can gt there, me I am fine to drink n drive, me I am offended at this or that . Its time to get back to the old time basics of just being human, and with respect to others n their property. I am so sorry that this happened to you and BF once again.

Catherine, I'm so sorry you got hit again. What if you built a mailbox support out of rock and concrete to protect your cars?

When we lived in a rural area of Texas there were some young folks who liked to drive around bashing mailboxes. People began making mailbox supports out of concrete to put a stop to it.

OMG. Unbelievable. Thankfully they caught this person and I hope they have insurance.

I also hope your insurance company doesn’t raise your rates claiming you park your cars in an unsafe area where they are likely to get hit. I was thinking along the same ideas as Johanna, can you do something to block cars from hitting your cars? Either a concrete barrier, landscaping rocks or park your cars closer to the house?

Wow - how is this possible? Same thing again! Maybe it is time to rethink the land scaping so you have a buffer? People close to us had to do this because their property was in a curve and down the hill. Their mailbox must have had a bull's eye on it because it was knocked down once a week at least, but once a month some overachiever in bad driving would sail right through the mail box shoot down their flower bed into their drive way and hit whatever car was parked there. After a few of those - they redid the landscaping and basically erected a flowerbed hill to stop the cars in their tracks. The high way department added a gazillion reflectors and guard rails - so far - so good!

I doubt the town would take a happy look at concrete barriers and I wouldn't want to look at them either, but I am currently doing a rain garden and can use some landscape rocks along the curb line I think that won't be an eye sore.

Great idea, Catherine! Just have the landscape company bring a couple of BIG rocks. I have an ideal candidate, but shipping would be prohibitive I fear!

I am amazed! Like lightning hitting the same spot twice! We used to live on a corner property with a long curved street beside us. People invariably took the curve too fast and ended up on our lawn, the city had to replant the same boulevard tree 3 X because of crashes taking it out. Finally I had enough. I erected a metre tall earth berm, and covered it with a decorative rock garden and flower bed. Then I got my brother to load several big rocks onto the bed of the pick up truck with his farm tractor, and a burly neighbour helped me roll them off of the truck down planks, positioning them around the perimeter. People still took the curve too fast, but woe befell them as they totalled the front end of their cars upon encountering my fortress!!!

Oh, this is maddening ! You sure are out of luck ! I hope you don’t have an increase of insurance fees because of it. Here it would probably not worth it to claim, as they raise your fees so much you end up paying for it anyways...
