Wow! 50 below is insane! That's really life threatening...never mind frost bite. It'll freeze a body through and through. Those silly dogs...thinking they can stay out in that for very long. Good thing their mama is looking after them.

These snow pictures are so beautiful! However, I am grateful to live in a place where we don't get snow (although with climate change, who knows what will happen in the near future...). I do want to take the spoos to a snowy place for them to play someday!

Dechi, ahem, you don't need a man to do anything And I would highly recommend California over FL (no offense to Floridians).

I'll 2nd that. Love California...not so humid. No poodle-stealing alligators. No hurricanes...just a little ole' earthquake here and there...like Washington only more. lol. But Florida is beautiful to be sure.

I agree, I wouldn’t need a man if I was in my old life, but now I am not able to do much physically, so could not drive myself and attend to all the necessary chores. He would be my slave, lol !

As for California over Florida, I would prefer it too, but Florida is *only* 12 hours driving distance from here, whereas California is 44 hours (I don’t like to take the plane). For this reason, lots of people around here go to Florida in winter.

A native San Diegan here and I know for a fact I would never survive in a snow state! Right now it is rainy and cold here and although 50F may sound like summer to some of you...to me it is sweater and wooly socks weather! I love living in Calif....Snow is only a couple of hours away for skiing (actually is only a 1hr flight from SD!) so it quite possible to ski in AM and surf in the PM now that they have a commuter flight from some of our airports for this! Even our local mountains can provide a snowy playground when the snow falls at 6000ft sometimes. We have the best of both worlds here! KEEP WARM EVERYONE!

Man, I am so jealous of all of you and your snow. Lived up north since 2010, and had to move back to Texas for work. I miss Montana and the snow so much. Heat is a migraine trigger for me - I grew up in East Texas and suffered heatstroke twice as a child and I’m particularly sensitive. Today it was almost 80 and I jogged with my daughter while she cycled for about a mile and a half, and man. It’s crippling. I hate warm weather. I’d give anything to go back up in the snow. Of course I was fairly lucky and our townhome had all our driveways plowed for us even in front of the garages. Just had to shovel one tiny walkway and that’s it 🙂

Wow, that's nice that your driveway was shoveled for you.

Well...maybe one day you can move north again. Western Washington I love because it's typically neither extreme of too hot or too cold...but just right...pretty mild. Goldilocks would approve.

Jogging in 80 degrees would do me in. I also had heat stroke in Idaho...awful. Too much heat turns me into a withering vine.

Oh my gosh, I would love to live in California for part of the winter! I am in the mildest part of Canada (mildest in winter but not the hottest in summer) and I still find it cold - and yes I grew up here!! We have snow on the ground now and usually do for a few weeks a year. I am at sea level but surrounded by mountains so the snow is readily available if I want to go up.
Its the rain and darkness that do me in. So much rain! Getting wet makes everything so cold and everything you touch gets soggy and cold. And the clouds make it so dark and grey! I always say Id rather have the freezing temps as long as it were sunny 2 years ago (?) it rained 20 days in a row - in January
So bring on California (or Hawaii?) for a few months every year - I will be one of those Canadians for sure! I do love where I live, really. its very beautiful and amazing.
