Good for you for doing the right thing for your dog. He looked adorable before, but he looks so happy and handsome clipped down. It's hard to fight coat change, the heat and fleas - a triple whammy.
I blow dry my minipoo so her hair is straight, but she has long pompoms and they are always getting wet from the dew on grass or the rain etc. so they have some of that wavy look to them too.
Between your new dryer and once his adult coat is in you can have lots of fun trying different styles of grooming. Do you have the book by Shirlee Kalstone Poodle Clipping and Grooming? It's a classic and you can usually buy used copies cheaply. Lots of information about all kinds of clips. My favorite for male dogs is the German - very smart looking and good for coat change.
