Will a puppy break his nail by scratching too hard?

After the groomer cut my pup's nails to the quick, it bled, but has recovered, for 2 weeks the nails have been growing, yesterday i saw one of the nails were shorter than the rest and there was blood there.

Is it possible for a nail to break? I put some stop bleeding paste on, and stopped him from licking the toe, this morning he seemed to be fine.

What should i look out for and what should i do?

Yes very possible for nails to catch on things and break. I would do my best to keep or get the nail length under control so it doesnt get caught on things or break again. If your poo has dew claws and you could, get them removed if at all possible.. More notorious about getting caught on things and ripping off or growing into the pad..

As Lady said, yep, entirely possible for a nail to catch on something and break. If your dogs nails are catching on things, either it's time for a trim OR the quicks are too long...or both. :D all of my dogs nails are so short I never have to worry about it. Try grinding them 1-2 times a week for a few months to get the quicks to recede, then maintain with trims every 1-2 weeks. I've found that poodle nails grow super fast, and the usual once a month trim that I recommend for most dogs just isn't enough. HTH!
