I have a two year old miniature poodle who is very tiny (3.6kg and is at the lower end of the height chart). As she is so tiny I will be crossing her with a toy poodle to have a litter of puppies for family. I'm not out to sell puppies but to give my family the same enjoyment I have. The mini males I have viewed have been too big for her and I don't want her to have a complicated birth. I dont need to register the pups as they will not be shown as they will be family pets only.

I have conflicting stories on what dates poodles should mate. I was wondering if you could advise me of what are the best times to be the most successful. I have a sire lined up which will cost $450AUD and the owner has advised me that my bitch may go to her place for 2 meetings for this price.

She is due to come into season anytime between now and the end of the month and this will be season 3 for her.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
