Atticus' eyes were getting sooooo runny, the vet prescribed eye drops to see if that would clear it up, but it didnt help so I thought maybe it was hairs poking his eyes so I shaved his face and gave him a mustache. I tried to shave him down to a half an inch all over his body. His hair did not cooperate well trying to shave it since it is so cottony so I decided to stop half way and scissor the rest since it looked so uneven. It looks alright, I think it'll look better when his fuzz on his face grows out a little more so I cant see his skin. I was going to try and shave his feet but I know he would be a snot about it cause he hates when I brush his legs and feet. He was also being a brat about his face and I knicked him once (poor baby), he's a puppy so I wasnt expecting him to be to good about it. I'm not too happy with how it came out, but it could be worse. He'll just be wearing his pajamas for a while so noone can see :D

That's the good thing about hair: it grows back. I think we're all probably guilty of DIY Gone Wrong at one time or another. I was very proud of myself today for resisting the urge to buy a set of clippers. I'm dangerous enough with the little grooming scissors I bought to help keep the hair around his eyes under control.

I'm leaving the real grooming to the professionals - there's a reason it's not my career of choice. :D

I know I recommend this all the time, but it really did work for me and my cavalier, who had very runny dark brown discharge down his face.

I switched him to spring water only (bottled) and it disappeared. His eyes are clear with no discharge at all, and Flip (who is cream) never has a discharge either.

Give it a shot??

I have had at least 5 clients at work try it and report success as well. :)

I was telling my mom about that but she wont do it cause it would be to expensive with 5 dogs and 3 big water bowls. And even if I had it in his bowl only in my room he still runs all the way downstairs to drink from the other bowls. It's so frustrating! haha

Does anybody know what is in the regular water that causes eye reaction  If it is something basic like chlorine , than simple filtration system would work great (Britta and such ) Those filters are so easy to use and so much cheaper than bottled water ! I mean - wont hurt to try

And yes - I am sure Atticus is still cutest baby around - hair or not :) !!!!!

I have heard (not sure if that is really the truth though) that it is the iron and rust in tap water that causes the discharge, as well as the dye in some foods.

Take it with a grain of salt though.

I'd definitely try a filter.
