Andis or Oaster?
I know this has been gone over a lot on the forums, and it seems most prefer Andis, but not all are opposed to Oaster. I actually have a pair of old Oaster something or another (can't read the face) I know it takes the replacement A5 blades. So my main question, My current Oasters are dying, purely lacking power and having trouble cutting my poodle fur even with a "fresh" blade. I am currently looking to buy new clippers to replace my Oasters, but can't figure out for the life of me if I want Andis or Oasters... Can the Andis use the Oaster A5 Blades? For some reason I haven't been able to find that answer anywhere Thanks!

I bet it depends on which Andis clipper you get. And I bet if you call PetEdge's 800 number they can tell you for sure.
This is interesting..

I meant to include that, I am looking at getting either a set of the Oaster Golden a5s or Andis 2 Speeds... Both are anywhere from 120-150 depending where I go.

I am an Andis fan. Peter to me are loud, hot bulky. If I was to go with an Oster it would be one of the new models. Andis Super 2 speed has lasted for years as a pro groomer.
These days almost all the blades can be used on Oster, Andis, Wahl, Laube , unsure about Geib since threatened to the scene.

I think I am hating this Kindle since it is automatically changing my words. Shoulder be Oster Not Peter & New instead of threatened. Go figure. I think I prefer a bit dumber device.

I am pretty proficient at figuring out what the autocorrect says I ended up getting a pair of Oaster A5 Turbo, a local store of mine had them and got 10% off (120) and I didn't want to wait on shipping lol, they have a 30 day money back guarantee at the store so I figure I will groom like crazy for a month and see if they hold up to my expectations if not I will return them and get a pair offline...

Hi I have cordless Andis Clippers and I have Oster A5 Clippers, I also have a new pair of Corded Oster Clippers (I can't remember their name). I have the newer Osters in reserve in case I ever need them.(They were on sale).
I like the Cordless Andis but the batteries do not last and they do not have the drive power I like for doing body work on Standard Poodles. I do like the Osters, I have had them for years and they really pull through and have the drive to get through thick fur. I have a real old pair of Oster A5' that I dropped on a cement floor, I superglued the body and they still work. So the Osters do last.
The difference between the Andis and Osters for me, are the weight and size of the clippers. But I am very tall and have large hands and long fingers so I can manage the Osters.
Also Osters do service there clippers so you might want to look into getting your old ones serviced and I bet they will work like new. Then if you buy new clippers you can keep the older ones in reserve, or for heavy duty work.
The Geib Buttercut blades are fantastic and do fit both Andis and Oster. But they cut ultra close. For example there 15 blades cut as close as Oster 30s.

Go with Wahl
Go with a Wahl clipper! I used to be an Andis girl (had probably 4 pairs) and one pair of Osters... the Osters were too hot, and burned my hand how I held them... Andis required too much maintenence and never really fit my hand. Now only use Wahl Storm II variable speed clippers. I never even use them at full power (and I was constantly was using my Andis on the high speed setting). The Wahls are a bit louder, but they have so much more power! They will go through the thickest coats easily. The only maintenence you have to do with them is replace this little white plastic piece on the drive tip. Easy peasy. You can usually buy the Wahl Storm clippers for like $169, and can usually find a deal for a free trimmer or gear bag.
