Silly Top Knot Question
A silly question, I know, but where should the top knot stop when keeping it long and the rest of the coat short? Closer to the base of the skull or farther down on the neck? Our pup is not for show, but I do really like the look of a longer top knot. I've put one band in the front a few times now (otherwise her eyes are covered.) If anyone has any pictures, it would be great! Thanks!!

If you have a crest you can get away with having a bigger topknot that looks more natural, if you stop at the back of the skull then the topknot may look odd if it's too big. If you can keep up with brushing neck hair, not petting it too often, and making sure to take the collar off and brush beneath, you'll get prettier results with a crest.

Ok, thanks. She has a crest right now (thanks, didn't know what to call it. ) Her collar and her lack of interest (LOL) of being brushed is a battle with the long hair in her neck area. I like to leave her collar off in the house, but DH doesn't. He finds it too tedious to put it on every time he takes her out. haha

"Not petting it too often." Hear that, world? I know it's irresistable, but keep your #%^* hands off the topknot!

can so relate with the petting I'm a dog walker and Kruz spends a lot of time at the park and people are always rubbing not petting and now even though his hair is not that long he wears a snod/coat so people don't touch (sorry for my rant) have the family trained now to eductae dog parkers (hopless)
