How bad is the matting? Are you gonna brush her out? Has she ever had a haircut before? If she is matted, I would go with a #5 on the body and 3/4" clip guard on the legs. If you have her brushed, I think you should start with a 1" clip guard allover, scissoring head, ears, and tail in both cases. Hope that helps a bit.
If you want to use a gaurd on her you will HAVE to demat her completely before clipping. If you can't do that, then it'll have to be a blade, I'd suggest a 4 but that might not get under matts if they are bad.
As for the guard attachments since she's never had an all over clip before and you are used to seeing her super long I would suggest a #0, it'll leave the coat about an inch with is plenty of fluff to work with. It's long enough that if for some reason she will not tolerate the cut right off you can fake it and just blend things like the legs and belly in until she gets more comfortable having the clippers all over her body. I always use gaurd combs on (un-matted) puppies for their first haircut for that very reason. If they freak after the first few minutes I can still make it look ok, can't do that with most blades lol.
LoL, be prepared, even the longest comb attachment is going to look waaayyyy shorter to you because you so used to seeing it so long. Can't wait to see pics!!
