Question Another Look At Billy

I let Billy grow out for a few weeks. He is looking better but I still need feedback on what to do with him. I have been working with him on his stack and he is doing much better with it now.

I am getting him ready to show in the puppy cut. I did have a post a few weeks ago and had some suggestions on what I should do with his coat. I have been working on it so I am looking on feedback as to whether it is correct or not.

Just let his hair Grow and don't scissor him any more. This is what Allan told me. You should have some more growth on him in 3-4 weeks.

I you using anything on his coat ? I am going to still try the grow hair on door knob recipe soon I just need to go get some liver lol

He looks to be growing coat and coming into his puppy clip fairly fast. I was surprised to see him looking this good already. he looks like a different dog. WOW!

Are you loving the show dog look yet?

As for the coat, my suggestion would be to leave the hair on his shoulders or wither's area alone and let it continue to grow out more. Of course, clip the stray hairs. Do you have any groomer's around that know a show puppy clip? If so, I would try to talk one into letting you watch them clip him and set the pattern for you. That will help you alot.

Dont get me wrong, you are doing great. That was just my experience so far and it really helped me "get it" better. Im still no pro....just doing the best I can.

No, I am not using a special coat growing product per-se. I use Polmolive to bathe him and Mane and tail leave in conditioner. He gets Brewer's Yeast with garlic, raw chicken with his kibble, boiled suet, and plain yogurt. His coat is soft as cotton.

No worries!!

There are no show dog groomers within miles and miles of us. The closest one we have found is in New York State.

I sent a message to MBF of Dog Info because I had been told that there are usually dog groomers at shows that I could approach and this is the answer I received:

'Good morning Debbie,

My suggestion to you is, go to a show before you enter your dog and meet and talk to some of the poodle people. Some of them may be willing to work with you and either teach you how to groom or groom your dog for you. There are not always "groomers" at show that you can hire to groom your dog. But you can make contacts at shows. Many time the AKC field rep. can direct you to someone that can help you. Good luck and have fun with your dog.'

So I will have to struggle along and maybe I will be able to afford to go to that groomer in NY before I take Billy to a show.

Oh, I wish. I would love to see Guenna. I wish I could do that for you. Right now I am sitting here feeling really miserable with a very sore throat and raging headache and body aches. Lucky me... My husband had this last week and it lasted a whole week. Wasn't he nice to share that with me?

I slept until 3 p.m. today and was feeling really weepy when I got up. That was before the symptoms came out.

If I feel better by Saturday, I may go anyway but 7 hours of driving needs some serious thought.
