Summer Diets
Anyone on one? Share away if so. I am always interested in weight loss stories as well. (healthy ones )
I am. I am trying the Nutra System plan. I started last Tuesday and lost 9 lbs, the first 6 lbs came off in 2 days. So it's slowed down. I gained a lot of weight because of medication I have been on for about 18 months. 6 months ago they tweaked the pill and I put on approximately 35 lbs more! Obscene!
I have never struggled with weight and thats even being diagnosed with Graves Disease when I was 19. So that being said, I am miserable and determined to get this weight off!! I am working out on the Wii everyday for at least 30 minutes this does not include walks and I am starting to feel a little better.
Now the food I got from NS - some of its OK and very small portions but some taste like cardboard, texture and all!
So any suggestions to supplement that's be great.

I'm currently on a kind of diet, but more just getting into the good habits I usually have but have fallen out of for the last 6 months or so. I am at the upper end of a healthy weight for my height, but would like to be more comfortably in the middle. I have tried lots of things over the years though, so can share some!
I gained the Freshman 10/15 plus some in my first year of University. Up until then I had been a fairly good weight. So I joined Weight Watchers and lost about 25 to 30 pounds. I have kept that off ever since but fluctuate up and down about 10 to 15 pounds. This time last year I was at my lowest ever adult weight using a plan called The Last 15
It's mostly common sense but worked really well for me and when I am eating well is what I still follow.
Right now I am pretty much following the principles of The Last 15, but am using a tracking system called The Steve Ward Diet. Basically you plug in your weight every day and based on your goal it either tells you to "eat normal", "moderate" or "eat light". I'm finding it useful in addition to the good nutrition knowledge I already have, it's just helping me keep control of myself when I feel like eating junk. Bang-Bang Servo Diet (aka Steve Ward Diet) | According to Dave
I've never tried any of the diets where you eat certain prepared foods, so don't really have any tips I'm afraid! Other than to add in lots of green veg wherever you can. Oh and one of my favourite ways to add in healthy spinach to my diet is to have a "green monster" smoothie. You can't taste the spinach really at all, and it helps get a great big portion of it into your day. Recipes

I just choose healthier foods every day. I've stopped drinking soda completely, I don't buy candy, chips, ect, and dont' eat them. I eat grain cereal or protein shake for breakfast, choose dried fruits for snacks, I rarely eat red meat, only poultry (mmmm turkey burgers..)
This has worked for me, though I've only gotten over 130 in the winter, and all other times I try to stay between 120-125.

Im on a diet also Olie
I am in the same boat as you took some medications and I gained a whopping 60lbs
So I am trying to get it off this summer. I have been doing my own diet, I cut down on my fast food and sodas !
I make whey protein shakes to replace a meal and i have been walking and doing my turbo jam lol
Here are some tips :
Eat 3-4 hrs before your bed time.
Work out before you go to bed you will burn more calories this way while you sleep
Eat more small meals to speed up your metabolism
Eat more fiber !
DO NOT skip Breakfast
as for supplements get some Fish oil or Omega fatty acids It helps burn belly fat. I believe taking a good mulitivitamin is also good. Turmeric also helps with weight loss.
I have both supplements but i need to start taking them again. The turmeric taste really good and if you get it in a non pill form it tastes great on your food.

Yep, smoothies are awesome, they are a big part of what the last 15 recommends. I use a magic bullet to whip them up in the morning and it's so quick and easy. I use whey protein and ground up flax in mine along with whatever else I feel like. A frozen banana is a good way to cream it up and make it a bit more icy.

cdnjennga thanks and I'm trying the Iced Pineapple Green Monster - yum!
Fluffy - 125-135 were always my averages and when I hit 30 it would go up and down and then along came stress and much needed medication LOL - and now I am a short plump woman! So rewind!
Wow Roxy were we on the same meds?! The turmeric tip I was not aware of and will look at. And I do need to start back up on my fish oil ( I have high cholesterol too)
Another thing I am learning is YOU MUST DRINK LOTS OF WATER~!~ Wow what a huge difference in a work out when you are not drinking much.
I love the shake ideas because I am looking for something to make up for the really gross breakfast entrees I am eating on this program. Also looking for options when I quit the meals.

LOL I know ! My real natural weight is 130-135 and my suggested weight was like 140 or something ( which I don't like lol) and I know weigh 190
IA water is the key to everything ! drink lots of it !
I use isolated whey protein which means its only whey and no carbs are in it.

Right there with you guys! I had lost a lot of weight thanks to a Crohns flareup then started feeling better and could eat a bit again so what do I do? - Ice Cream! Ribs! Chips!. Not only am I now heavier than I would like to be, these foods are not EXACTLY what my gastro recommends haha. I just need to get back on track with eating healthier, and working out. So far I've found Jillian Michael's 30 day shred dvd to be a killer, as is Biggest Loser's Yoga for Weightloss dvd. Also, if anyone is looking for a support group take a look at peertrainer.com - there are a ton of online groups to choose from.

I'm jealous.
I cannot diet right now and shed the pounds I put on (ashamed to admit this one here) not while pregnant but a few months before. I had started a weight loss plan, basic healthy eating and more physical activity, and joked that it was the baby making diet. Ummmm apparently it's effective :P Anyway now I am nursing and tried to use that as a way to burn additional calories since it is said to burn 500-600 extra calories a day. Weeeellllll that sounds great right? Sadly the trick is you have to eat those calories every day in order to produce milk it seems, it doesn't take them from your body the way the baby did before he was born. Darn. I discovered all this the hard way of course. Oh well. Maybe in a few weeks when we intro solids we can get into loosing more of the weight. I can't even do the extra physical stuff right now b/c I can't eat enough it seems to keep up production and my two mile walks. Sucks to be me...
Pregnancy itself was a pretty good diet plan I must say. I lost like 30 lbs :P at delivery and didn't put on but maybe five pounds my whole pregnancy and that was right at the end. I lost almost 20 in my first trimester b/c of "The Sickness". Crazy. The bad part of that is I never bought real maternity clothes, just elastic waist jeans and a couple of larger t-shirts. I only had two real maternity tops. It's a little depressing that I can still wear ALL of it. Even though I know I weigh less it still is a little weird to still be able to wear all the clothes I wore while pregnant. Of course at the time I found it weird to be just a few days from delivery and be able to wear not my real jeans but all my regular t-shirts and scrub tops that I worse before getting knocked up.
