Default Posting from the Snow!!!!!

HEY EVERYBODY I'M SEEING SNOW FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MANY YEARS!!! I'm in BIG BEAR CA! My Son & Family decided I should go on this weekend jaunt with them! We got here late Friday afternoon about 5:00 (it's a 4 hour drive from San Diego) and the last miles thru the winding mountain 2 lane road turned out to be grueling for me as I got really car sick and my body also did not adjust to the altitude change (About 7000ft from San Diego's '0'ft!)) very well as I have stage IV COPD......Thank goodness my portable oxygen concentrator plugs into a car lighter too! The bad thing is that I have to use it 24/7 here, while at home I only use it when exerting myself! Not bad, just inconvenient..... as it only weighs 10lbs and is in a shoulder bag.
Spent the evening in front of my own little fireplace resting.........
Today( Saturday) We spent the day being tourists and eating and checking out snow play areas for the kids(they usually go Skiing/snowboarding but this trip is just a relax and do nothing one) ........my son was my wheelchair chauffer!
Of course I don't have many pics to share yet but we will be here til Monday so I'm sure I'l get a few!........just a few I took when coming thru the mountains before I got car/altitude sick!

Altitude sickness? Now you have something in common with Sir Edmond Hillary.

But do take care, eh? Looking forward to pix!

Oh Molly, what a great weekend experience for you, and with your amazing family to boot. Sorry to hear you had some altitude problems, but we all know that's not going to keep you from enjoying yourself. Wow, a room with your own fireplace sounds wonderful, please take photos for us. How is our little princess adjusting to her weekend of luxury at Big Bear. And what does she think of the snow? Keep us updated, and have a glass of wine for me!

Looks so beautiful. Enjoy the snow and relaxation with your family.

Hopefully when you get back home to San Diego you can go back to your normal use of oxygen.

Aww, sorry you got car sickness and altitude sickness :( I would suffer both also if I went to Big Bear. I hope you can enjoy the rest of your trip and not get sick coming home (Bonine, ginger?). My sis and her family are going up for the day tomorrow, so maybe you'll run into them!

Unfortunately Molly could not come with me...it is a 'no pets' resort. I already miss her terribly! I called my sister who she is with, and she said Molly was very distraught.... that she would go to my sister and stare at her, give her a little 'bark' and run to the door to let her go "home" as we live in the same complex & she knows how to get there! I did not call today ....it's depressing!

P.S. I just found out it is supposed to snow starting tonight! Now I even get to see snow falling HAHAHA!!!!!

It's so hard to be apart from our babies! Hugs. Well, enjoy the snow and the gorgeous snow moon tonight.

When my daughter took me to Banff before Christmas I missed the girls so much, but I knew they were ok, and they were. I just wish they could understand "I'll be back in 4 days", I'm sure your sister will take good care of Molly. I hope it snows for you tonight, the great big flakes that just float down almost in slow motion.

Oh wow! Soooo pretty. I'm glad you're getting to see the snow for a change of pace. I am sorry though, that you suffered from the altitude. It takes about 2-3 days for your body to start making more red blood cells, which would help. But you'll be leaving by then. I had that once in Colorado years ago, as we drove over a pass that was 13,000 ft elevation and then dropped to 11,000 feet to camp. We were both so low on oxygen, our brains wouldn't even work right. We were needing to put up the tent and we'd put in one stake, then say something stupid like, "We can finish this later" and we'd go sit down, so exhuasted. Then one more stake and so on. I was throwing up, headache and just awful feeling. After a couple days we felt better. Then it was time to go home to sea level. lol. My ex wasn't as badly affected. It can actually be pretty dangerous. So I'm glad you have your oxygen tank and hope you'll feel well enough now to enjoy the rest of the day. It sure is a pretty place. You'll be glad though, to get back to Molly. I enjoyed the photos!
