Plum figured she'll be up to being back on this week. For those of you who do not know, Barb suffered a horrible (and her first) gall bladder attack and her dear Hubby David had to take her to the ER, They did a scan and found many gall stones. So, she was scheduled for surgery the next morning. Feeling much better due to not eating to prep for surgery, and the fact that she was on some dandy pain killers, she felt SUPER! So, she convinced the Doc she had much more pressing things to do (An Afghan Hound Holiday dinner in Minnesota) so...could surgery wait until Tuesday??? Pretty please...with sugar on top??!! So, reschedule until Tuesday morning. Naughty, naughty girl! Give her bestie a few more days to stew and worry! Well...she went home and ate and BAM...another attack and right back to the ER! So, because she had eaten, surgery could not be done until after 4 pm that day or the next morning. It ended up she had her gall bladder removed laparascopically that evening and was released in the wee hours of the morning. David was a Godsend through the entire ordeal, staying with Barb and keeping me posted with each new development. She still has some pain up by her collarbone which is apparently trapped air and gas from the surgery, but is coming along well, though trying to get her to take it easy is another story! Get well soon my Barbie. xoxo

You guys are awesome! Thanks for thinking of me!
Yeah, like Arreau shared - this really hit me out of the blue and like a Mack truck! I'd never had any issues with the little bugger before, but on Thursday morning I started having unrelenting stomach pains (unlike anything I'd experienced before - it wasn't like indigestion, or nausea, or gas - it was different - and horrible!!)
I went to the walk in clinic first (I didn't think I needed the ER, fer cryin' out loud! All I had was a belly ache!) but the Dr. at the clinic sent me to do labs immediately and then sent me to the ER! Did I mention morphine is a very nice thing when necessary??
There was no way they'd be able to do the surgery that evening as it was already quite late, so they told me to come back at 7:30 AM on Friday and they'd do the surgery. The ER doc felt that I'd still be able to conduct my weekend plans as it's laparoscopic and out-patient. The next morning, the surgeon contradicated the ER doc from the night before and said, "NOPE!" No weekend plans for me! I really was feeling better and the surgeon had no problem scheduling the surgery for this week sometime, so I left the ER, went home to change, ate a fat-free Greek yogurt and went back to work. Within the hour I was back at the emergency room (they were expecting me!!!)
Because I had eaten, they drugged me up again and sent me to a room to digest my snack. Around 4 PM, they did my surgery and I was home by about 10:45 PM. My flax seed microwaveable heating pad has been my constant companion (it was like a miracle cure for the first 2 days' pain!) My husband has been the BEST nurse ever and is making sure I take it easy!
I'm back at work at least part days for now. I feel like I can do much more than I SHOULD be doing, so I'm constantly reminding myself not to lift things, or bend over, or cough or laugh or sneeze!
The pain from the gallbladder is blessedly absent, I can handle the healing of the four little incisions and look forward to never having the GB pain again!
Thanks again for all your well-wishes and prayers! They are much appreciated.
