First Christmas without my mom...
Having Lily here with me definitely helps. She seems to be able to sense when I'm down and she stays with me, typically pressed against me. I feel a little guilty because I put a t-shirt on her and she's mad at me...but I know she'll get over it. :P Thank goodness for poodles!!

I'm so sorry, your heart must ache. So true how our companions can tell what we need, even when we are not sure ourselves. Glad you have your Lily. (hugs)

It is so hard to get through all the firsts of losing our loved ones. Our hurt is all still so fresh at each and every new first. I always pray for those who have lost someone so very close to them that they heal. That they find comfort and strength is the beautiful memories that they were left with.
I lost my three year old and first born grandchild along with her mommy (son's fiance) on the one year anniversary of Sami's transplant, they were killed when a young lady hit them head on in a collision.
I pray you heal so that you may be thankful for every good memory and all the time you had with your mom. I am thankful Mandy was a part of my life for 6 years, Sami 3 and that my little Ali who was not even 1 yet survived the accident.
God Bless you!

Oh, what a terrible loss! I visited their memorial sites and am so sorry for your loss, your son's loss and little Ali's loss. :( Mandi looked like a very loving mom.

Thanks, gals!! Survived the morning--it was easier than I expected, thanks to my hubby, kids and of course Lily.
My dad fled town so we had to go over and take care of his cats. I guess he just didn't want to be home today. My parents did a short-sale on their home that was 90 miles away from where we live, in order to move closer to us. They moved into our old house, which was just three miles from where we live now. My mom passed away within a month of them actually moving in, so we never really got to enjoy having her right around the corner. She was only 62 years old. :( Life has to go on though. Her death motivated me to change my lifestyle (I've lost 40 pounds, over 50 from my highest weight) and am much healthier and active now.

This is my first Christmas without my Dad, he died the fourth. I was lucky to have him for as long as I did; he was 91 but it is still hard. It feels so raw. I am so sorry you had to lose your mom so young Moma24AZ. What a great way to honor her memory you have chosen by living a healthier lifestyle - it very impressive that you have lost 40 pounds. Wickednag was a shocking waste and horrible tragedy you have experienced. You are so right, the way to honor our lost loved ones is to remember all the joy they brought us but as you say the firsts are so hard.
