Default CA new laws on spay and neutering

Well I do not have documentation to back what I am about to type.

When we where at the pet expo my sister went to talk the the Basenji club and they where telling her, that CA is making a law mandatory for all dogs and cats to be spay and neutered. No breeders will be exempted from it and there will be no fees for breeders to pay the yearly fee for keeping the intact dogs they own.

When I find more info about this I will post it Like Sivaro said I do realize people do not have computers when the present bill was not in effect I passed out fliers . I will do the same if this law is really trying to pass because this is INSANE.

Yes they are starting that in Australia too. Breeders are going to have to start desexing their pet puppies that go to pet homes or another gaol term. Makes me so mad as some breeds of dogs especially the larger breeds get damaged getting desexed too early.

Yeah we already have a mandatory spay and neuter law in CA but breeders are allowed to have intact dogs for a fee...

Are they trying to do the same all over AU? or just certain areas?

The AKC website has a legislative alert section, http://www.akc.org/news/sections/legislative_alerts.cfm

I didn't skim through very far, I noticed two alerts for my state (FL) that I was already aware of, and in fact posted about a while back. I also noticed a new mand. spay/neuter bill being intro'd in Alabama which is important to me.

if all dogs are spayed/neutered when pups, eventually there won't be any more dogs. Is that what they want? I say crack down on the puppy mills!

That is exactly what groups like PETA want. If you do a bit of digging you can find it on their own website. I don't even see how this will help anything. They won't be able to enforce it, so only law abiding citizens will spay/neuter their dog. So that just leaves you with a bunch of uneducated BYBs who don't care about the law. Breeders who will be less likely to take any of their dogs to the vet, so they can avoid the law. This law will also help Puppymills, IMO. People will start having puppies shipped in and most don't do enough research to know whether their dog came from a mill or not. I'm also betting a lot of breeders will move. Between giving of the fees they get from licsenced breeders and people leaving the state, it's easy to see why CA is in so much financial trouble.

Question: they keep going after breeders, but what about the pet stores? Are they still up and running. It would seem, with all the negative publicity places like Pets of Belairs and Posh Puppies keep getting, the legislature would go after them. Both of those places have puppies shipped in from other states, btw.

Funny you should mention that Pamela, it's true that if you do a bit of digging you will find that PETA believes that any domestic animal is better off dead than being a pet. The ultimate goal is to eliminate pet ownership. It's a bit of a shame that so many people who join the cause don't understand that it what they are working towards.

Another ineteresting note is that the higher ups in Peta would also like to see Humans extinct. They don't believe in having children, they say it strains mother earth precious rescources.... Thats an interesting thought no?

I have a printed article about it somewhere I can dig it up. It has names and direct quotes and such, interesting stuff.
