Downey Animal Shelter (Downey, CA)?
I'm on the east coast so please bear with me. Does anyone know where this shelter is and WHY (oh WHY) there are so many neglected poodles and poodle mixes on the website? I'm trying really hard not to cry--I'm at work--as I scroll down the list and look at dogs such as A4344105 URGENT, who is nothing more than a skeleton covered by matted hair. I've seen some bad cases, especially in rural southern shelters, but never so many in one high-kill shelter (most are near the bottom). :-(
Poo-Mix Rescue Dogs Is this a rural area or an area known for BYBs and PMs? It breaks my heart to think that most of these poodles will soon be euthanized, at no fault of their own. I...feel...so...helpless! |

It looks to be within a few miles of downtown LA. Right alongside Watts and Compton.
