Need Smart Phone Recommendations
Hi guys,
I need your help. My contract with verizon is up for renewal and all of my family renewed their two year agreement and got their phones. I am the only one who is still undecided. I have never had a smart phone (didn't feel the need for one, till now) and really can't decide. It is now between Iphone and one of the Droids. I don't need the most expensive, top of the line $300 phones. I am trying to decide between Iphone 4, Droid Revolution or Droid Incredible 2.
Your advice or other recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Julia

It depends on how tech savvy you are. iPhone is super user friendly, very intuitive. You will know how to use almost every function within one afternoon. The Droids can be very powerful if you are willing to spend time configuring them. They are just like Mac v.s. PC.
The data speed and reception are so much better with Verizon here in San Francisco. AT&T is s-l-o-w and there are many dead spots, at least here in the Financial District. However, you can't do simultaneous data and voice on an iPhone if you have Verizon i. This is the only reason why I haven't switched over to Verizon. I found it very useful to be able to talk on the phone while performing searches (maps etc.)
I have seen a lot of ladies (graduate students and faculty members, young and older) switching from Droid to iPhone but not vice versa. And I have seen a lot of tech savvy people (mostly men, some females) can't stand iPhone and switch to Droids. But that's just my observation.
I am a Mac person all the way. I have been using an iPhone since Rev. A and have no regrets. Steve Jobs had definitely made technology beautiful.

I think you might have made my decision easier. I am not at all tech savy (understatement of the year!). I am also a Mac person, not a pc person. I prefer simple and intuitive, so I guess I will be getting an Iphone.
Now which one to get the I4, I4S and how many gigs to get. lol

If you are a Mac person, iPhone is really a plug-and-ready gadget for you.
I always get the largest capacity that I can afford (kind of like buying the best quality dog food that one can afford). But it depends on how you are using it. If you are going to put a lot of music/TV shows on it, then yes, the larger the hard drive the better.
4S takes really good pictures and videos. I am still using my 3GS and debating whether I should upgrade to 4S or wait for the 5 to come out. It will take quite some time for the 5 to be ready because the Japanese company that produces the chips is located right in the city of that terrible earthquake and tsunami.

iPhone hands down. I can't imagine anything else. Put it this way. My company provides me with a Blackberry with unlimited worldwide service. I still pay another $60 a month out of pocket to have an iPhone. The Blackberry is a brick.

I think I was one of the last people in America to get a cell phone, just a couple of years ago, a nice phone but not a smartphone. I did have an iTouch I used to play games.
Then hubby got a deal through work to get an iPhone, and he announced he was getting me one, too. I accepted reluctantly, because I didn't think I would ever get much use out of a smartphone.
Now, a few months later...I am as in love with my iPhone as a woman can be with a technological gadget. I cannot believe how useful and wonderful it is. Granted, I have no basis of comparison with an Android phone, but I do indeed love my iPhone.

Uh oh... the PF is full of Apple lovers!
Android all the way!
There's more choice with Android phones, not just with the different models, but also Android is Open Source making the whole phone more customisable than and iPhone; which is Closed source.
iPhone is more expensive comparatively to Android handsets. Also bits and bobs like iPhone chargers are less accessible and more expensive than Android cables which are now all micro USB.
You can't share files very easily with iPhone (this is to do with the closed source programming)....
I could go on. I know you said you're a bit of a technophobe, so iPhone will probably be fine for you *sigh* lol
Can't help being a 'droid fangirl! Currently drooling over the new Galaxy Nexus...
Also if you get an iPhone you'll have to solve Rubik's cubes the boring way:
