Default New computer - and it's partly your fault!

I love my little iBook, but it has gradually fallen behind all the new stuff out there, including changes to YouTube. So in order to be able to watch all the poodle videos people keep teasing me with, I have ordered a brand new MacBook ... just think, I could have bought another poodle for the same money ...

Of course, I will be occasionally using it for non-poodle related stuff!

If it's a virtual puppy, you should name it and keep us posted with updates on training progress .

I am lusting after a Mac now .... my sister got one of those desktop ones, with an enormous screen, where all the gubbins are tucked into the casing of the screen.

I got a macbook 4 years ago and I truly adore it. I've really had zero issues with the software or hardware, and the only real problem is the fact that it's made from plastic and the heat from the battery has cracked the casing along the back and along the edges. Also, the video card is built-in to the entire computer system, so it cannot be upgraded, which sucks because it can't play Sims 3!! I look forward to getting a new macbook pro sometime this summer and playing Sims 3 whenever I want!

Enjoy your new one!!!

I loooooove my Macbook! I went through 4 PCs in 3 years (none of them my fault from neglect or improper usage) and decided it was worth the extra money. I have yet to have a problem with my Mac. It is absolutely worth every penny and I'll never go back.

I have been a mac user for over 12 years now. Hubby is also a mac user. And I just converted my dad. I don't see myself ever going back to the PC world.

Want to start a list of favorite mac freewares/sharewares?

Wow - a whole community of poodle owning Mac users! Perhaps it has something to do with a love of good looks, elegance, responsiveness and intelligence?!

Favourite shareware would be very helpful - I am already on the look out for an ad blocker for Safari.

Favorite IM application: Adium

AppCleaner is the uninstaller I use. It thoroughly uninstalls applications so no preference files or whatsoever will be left behind.

I use Handbrake which is a freeware to rip DVD and convert into iphone/ipod format.

Love my MacBookPro! I got it 3 1/2 years ago when I wanted to buy Photoshop. Thought that would be the time to switch from PC to Mac. Haven't regretted it a bit.

My first introduction to micro computers was an Apple Lisa, back in the very early 80s - I had a real "I have seen the future" moment! I was working in a library on an island in the Pacific, and could immediately see how small, affordable computers could change the sharing of information for ever. Then I worked with Macs in various academic settings, and even managed a Mac laptop for a work computer for a while, until getting forced into the office mainstream of PCs. So as soon as I stopped working, and could choose for myself, there was really only one way to go!
