Help reading Pedigree Papers?? - Poodle Forum - Standard Poodle, Toy Poodle, Miniature Poodle Forum ALL Poodle owners too!

So I got the Pedegree on the new pup, but have no idea what any of it means. I was told that all of the names in red were the champions, but that is all I know. How do you know how far the pedegree goes back? Any help on this would be great!! TIA

Well depend on the pedigree it can be a 4 or a 6 generation. It would help if you could upload a scan or picture of it.

What are the sire and dames registered names?

Sire and Dam are the mom and dad correct? Or do you want the first Sire and Dams name.......

I think she is meaning the full name of his parents.

Correct, the Sire is the father and the Dame is the mother. Look on the pedigree, what are the first two dogs names?

Brown Bill Bailey is the Sire
Marrs Misty Mocha is the Dam

I will try to set an example from my Eli's pedigree. Give me a min to scan and post. The one I have is just the litter registration form and it show's just a few generations. Its prob what you have.

Ok here it is....

you will see the sire and dam on the left side. Directly across from the sire (caesar lacroix) is Louie Kaye stevenson (caesars father) and then mimi kaye stevenson (caesars mother). same thing on and on.

The father of any dog is always called a sire and the same for the mother (dam).
