Greetings all,

Winston (almost 5 months) will be getting neutered when he hits 6 months. During last visit - Vet said that there's something wrong with his belly button -the outie didn't fall out its ingrown - (i wasn't at the appt -i would of asked a truck load of questions) but that vet said she can fix it while puppy is under for neutering. She also said she can do his microchip on same day

I'm thinking poor puppy with so many procedures - or is this standard practice on animals to just do all u can while they are under

thanks in advance

Get it all done at once!! It is much easier and safer to put under anesthesia once then have to do it again later. Also you just have 1 recovery time instead of two. We frequently do multiple procedures on a pet while they are under. The microchipping is nothing and can be done at anytime anyways (but its a large needle so better to do it while under anyways).

"Never waste a good anesthesia" LOL - I would do it all. We frequently repair umbilical hernias and spay/neuter at the same time. As for the microchip, it's just like getting an injection with a large needle. It's not really a "procedure" and can be done with the dog awake. I would just do it all.
