(Not totally poodle related)
Have you ever met that perfect dog for your family, the dog you've wanted your whole life, but the timing was totally off?
What did you do?
I met that dog. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted a Husky/German Shepherd mix (don't ask me why). I just thought that would be a cool dog.
But mostly I always wanted a Siberian Husky. My mother wanted one too and had kept promising me one, but my dad (step) didn't like the idea of dogs in the house, especially big dogs. So instead we got a shih tzu. Then 5 years later I got my first poodle.
But I have always wanted a Husky but the timing was never right. Our first apartment had a 15lb weight limit so we got a Poodle, being that I had had the breed for many years. (I had owned 2 poodles and grew up around several, the whole family has poodles). When we were ready to get our second dog I started looking into Huskies again, and shelties. But the place we lived at the time didn't allow huskies. And then I found this little Terrier mix that needed me and well to be honest I needed her. So I adopted her 3 days later.
Don't get me wrong, I don't regret getting either dog.
I just found my dream dog last week. (And to think I was all set to get a bulldog in a few years)
Her name is Sophie and she is a 1 and 1/2 years old German Shepherd/Husky mix. And she is beautiful. She is fully trained. Her original owners put a lot of work into her. They gave her up because they were never home with her. And infact the trainer that trained her was brought out to the shelter to work with her, not knowing that it was Sophie she was going to work with until she got there.
She knows every command in the book, she is a little jumpy though but overall a good dog. If the situation were different, I would have brought her home. But we have a pretty full house right now and honestly we have a good dynamic here, adding another dog would be pure chaos. The time just isn't right.
I just hope I can find a dog like her when I am looking for a dog for my daughter. Because Sophie is a rare find in my book. She seems to be a happy well adjusted dog.
Anyways sadly I have to pass her up, but this is her (My dream dog) and a little about her.

More About Sofie:
Sophie is a special girl, and she's going to need a special guardian. She's been trained and knows quite a few commands and is very willing to please, but she's very high energy and needs a home where she'll have room to play and a guardian who can help her to corral her energy into productive work. She's around a year old and so still has many puppy tendencies and can be destructive if not kept busy. But her potential for becoming an outstanding companion for the right person is tremendous. She's affectionate, gorgeous, and highly intelligent. If you have experience with working breeds and know how to keep her engaged in meaningful activity, please come meet her. She'll reward you with a lifetime of love and fun!
I just hope she gets the home she deserves soon.
