Lost Another One!
We had to put down our first rescue Standard (Louie) yesterday.
He was only 11, would have been 12 in December. He had ongoing disk problems and finally he lost function of his back legs. He was a very good boy, always cheerful. Even when he was down, he was upbeat. He could not get up, but he had a sparkle in his eye. I will miss him!

Louie sounds like a very special poodle who was extremely grateful you were there to rescue him. Thanks to your love and special care, he was able to know what it felt like to have a full life and experience a dignified death with the ones he loved. Here's to Louie! May all of the wonderful memories carry you through such a deep sense of loss.

Thanks everyone!
He was one of those dogs who was grateful to have a home, and have poodle brothers and sisters to play with.
When his disk problem was first diagnosed we were worried he would not lead a normal life, but to our surprise he did very well. I am glad he didn't suffer.
Our last evening together we layed with him and fed him his favorite foods, and rubbed his feet. He loved his front feet rubbed!

So sorry for your loss. :( Even when you know you're doing the right thing, it's always hard to say good-bye. He looks like a very sweet boy!

So sorry to hear about your loss. It was great of you to give him a loving home and a perfect ending to his life. I am sure you are going to miss him, but I am sure he had a great life with you.

My sincerest sympathies. It is never easy losing a dog, but know you did the right thing, and he is waiting for you over the rainbow bridge...
