Teddy got his about 2 months ago. I hadn't joined this forum yet, so I wanted to share this now. We are still going to classes since we are working on getting him certified as a Therapy dog.

It was kinda of hard finding a trainer that would do the Puppy STAR test. I got the emails from the AKC website but some didn't have classes some for some reason didn't do the test. One of them even told me he didn't do the test because it was pointless since when they enter the adolescent age they would change. I still wanted to have the test and get the metal though. So I found Carol, an amazing trainer.

Now that Teddy is 11 months I do see the change. He's being a little rebel. Barking non stop to trainers. She told me that the fact that he's injured (broke leg) that has something to do with it because he feel vulnerable.

Please someone tell me they go back to being angels once they pass the adolescent age lol

Jazz got his star puppy. It was fun to do. They usually settle down after a year or so. I am sorry he broke his leg. :(

what a cutie! great picture as far as that answer i dont know. my poodle is a little monster lol! if you keep up on his training im sure he will turn out fine.

Thats good to hear because the barking is turning me crazy lol. He's so mellow but recently he barks at everyone non stop.

I know its super fun to get to the medal and show it off. I don't have kids so Teddy is my pride and joy

Thanks but hes doing fine now. We just have to wait till the end of the month to remove the metal pins.

Thanks I hope he does. Poodles are soo smart but sometimes they used that smartness the wrong way.

I don't think the STAR puppy program was a waste of time. It gave us the chance to learn how to train Spike, and put US on a path to being responsible dog owners, with a dog that knows basic commands, and people who know how to use them.

If you happen to be a dog trainer, or have had dogs for so long that training is second nature, it may be a waste of your time, but if you are new at this, it's very valuable thing to do with your dog (and the other people in your home)...
