I never take a dog until I have a collar with a tag on it. I always put my cell number on the tag, because I figure if I lose the dog I will have the phone with me . I like a leather leash as well.

Having recently lived through the first few months of living with a new puppy, I'd just suggest that you initially purchase a very few toys/beds/blankets etc. You'll discover quickly how your pup is going to respond to each and find that some are pointless. My Jagger destroys anything made of fabric and is not at all interested in Kongs but LOVES anything that rolls or squeaks or that he can fling into the air! Don't hesitate buying a collar that is on the large end of the size range indicated--you'll find your puppy will grow so much more quickly than you might have thought. And, definitely a crate--I'd probably be a former puppy owner if not for that, LOL. Lots of work but sooo worth it

I'm meeting the pup later today so if I decide he's the dog for me there's gonna be a lot of shopping going on. Definitely gonna ask the breeder the kind of food and toys he likes.
I already have a crate, it's a large one that needs to be cleaned though. It's old from my first dog.
