Well Lea I think we were lucky in our area of Southwestern Ontario. I was so dreading..."the worst storm of the decade". When I watched the news I realised how much snow other parts of Ontario got...I think we got off pretty well with this storm. It is already melting today. Chagall's Mom, Murphys, Sarah Murphy wow...you got a real dumping of snow. Here are some pics of my guys playing this morning. And the last one of them waiting to come in from the kitchen after drying (sorry about the glowing eyes).

This is really amazing. A time lapse of the snow accumulation in Connecticut.

really amazing. we still have not seen or heard a plow near us (we are between 2 main roads, one of which houses a major area hospital, and the other that houses the main police station lower down...) I'm trying not to sound too jaded about the whole idea of letting it all pile up so *WE* get some FEMA dough, but it's getting a little difficult, knowing that not one dime of that will go to assist families who have lost wages, etc, due to the sheer lack of planning and preparation on the part of our governmental representatives.
Sorry for that totally off topic rant - as I type, my husband and Spike are in the yard playing Fetch with a neon nerf football (the tennis balls sink and get lost... not sure how many of them we'll find when this melts...) I'll try to add some photos, but Susan has the better camera for motion shots!

I suppose that we've got it pretty good up here really. The City of Toronto itself . . abt 2 million people . . has some 600 snow plows on call. Within a half hour radius of the city, there's abt another 3 million people . . . and many more plows available. On standby for the winter.
That's 'coz we're used to snow, we know it's gonna happen, and are prepared for it, I suppose. I live in town but on a dinky little street that dead ends at my place and the forest . . . few houses. But still, were plowed by 10:00 the morning of the storm . . and regularly after that.
For years, my dad was in charge of clearing all of Toronto's streets. Big deal... but there was an interesting side to the story. When u think of 'big city furthest north', lots of people, lots of snow regularly, the busiest highway on the NA continent running thru it . . . and wealthy enuf to afford the equipment and manpower... that would be Toronto.
Dad used to give seminars in places like Moscow on the latest in techniques and machinery to clear snow from city streets. 'Coz Toronto knew how.
This last big dump left the city in a shambles . . . but only for a day...
Hopin' that y'all down there make it thru this safely and sanely!

Our mayor says they "HOPE" to have the roads clear by Friday, and resume school and travel in the city.
There is a list of passable roads in the city being updated hourly. It currently has sections of less than 30 streets reported to be passable, and they do not connect to get you from one end of town to the other, if you map them out... Nice, right?
I'm disgusted and reminded of the sign in my school office that read, "Lack of planning and preparation on your part does not necessarily constitute an emergency on mine"...

I just got plowed....one swipe only, what a mess. The piles next to the cars are around 5-6 feet packed snow.....and now the fun begins!
School is already cancelled Monday and Tuesday with the possibility of it being closed all week. They need to have two passable lanes on all streets before school can resume.

Winter storm!
We have been plowed a single swipe and a monster pile in front of the drive way.. DH raked the roof due to the rain coming on Monday... And now is blowing the drive way. He did make a path for Rhett to have "business space". He came in for coffee and asked Rhett I he had a problem with sand?? Rhett has no clue what that is ... I said they have not put any down yet and he told me that Destin Fl beach is covered in sand and I should find a groomer who specializes in poodle sand removal!!! LOL
