The face of my hero.
I felt conflicted about posting this, as I don't believe in buying pets for protection. Simply put, I don't think it's right for a pet to be bought under the pretense that they're their to take a bullet for us-although we know too well that under the circumstances that they could understand what it meant that they would do it in a heartbeat.
Regardless, this is the face of my hero:
No one was hurt!
He warded off an intoxicated man from mugging my husband last night. It's a very strange feeling to know that had he decided to not take Gryphon to the store that he may have been injured, or worse. It just feels really surreal. I look at him, only 24" tall and around 45lbs of fluff and legs and I am baffled by how amazing he is. He came to me afraid of everyone, and everything, we got through that and now he looks at the world as this amazing place where he wants to see everything and meet everyone. Yet somehow he knew, and I don't know how, that he should not let the man come any closer.
How do they know these things? It's unreal.
Because I can't spoil you enough, or make you understand how grateful I am to you, I will share our story here.

Oh what a brave boy! Glad to hear your husband is OK! The world is getting to be a dangerous place, but you are a little more safer with your Gryphon around! Now go make that dog a cake and celebrate his bravery!

Wow! You hear of this stuff but it must of been surreal for your hubby to experience his dog defending him. Gryphon deserves a nice steak dinner

The heart of a poodle's love for their family far outweighs their appearance of elegance and daintiness. I hope that mugger will think twice before he messes with anyone again. Gryphon truly a knight in shinning armor...with beautiful fluffy hair.

We've had a couple instances where Spike has caused someone to turn another direction. People see Poodle, then they see Poodle teeth, and Poodle growling at YOU face, and they sortof think better of coming any closer, for the most part... Good Dog!
