Default Lola cries over a beanie baby

This is so strange.... She doesn't usually play with toys or balls but lately she has a thing for a tiny beanie baby thats been floating around here forever. Every time she picks it up she kind of gets antsy or almost in a frenzy about where to lay down with it and while she's looking for a place she lets out these little anxious sounding squeals/cries. What in the world? I've never had a female dog... Does she think its a puppy?

She is 2 yrs old and was spayed a year ago.

Gosh, I had a pug once who had a false pregnancy and she did that..but don't know if it can happen in a spayed dog. My cat was spayed and they may have left some tissue behind. She gathers up dirty socks, one at a time, and carries them through the house howling. Then she puts them in a pile. When her pile is complete she lays on them. Strange!

It does sound like phantom pregnancy behaviour - perhaps there are just enough hormones still being produced to confuse her. No encouragement, calm matter of factness, and plenty of exercise, are the usual recommendations!
