Out of the blue question
I'm not looking to buy another toy poodle, but I like to browse puppyfind. I came across this website that sells rare blue Merle parti toy poodles. Some have blue eyes and 1 has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye. Are these "bad" breed poodles? Just wondering for my own education.

My understanding is that the merle gene does not occur naturally in the poodle, so some other breed has been used to introduce it. And the merle gene is linked to some very unpleasant consequences, especially if it is carried by both parents. I would avoid any poodle breeder who is deliberately producing merles.

Thanks fjm. I thought it had to be something like that. And some of her breeding females are only 3.5-4 lbs. That's so tiny.

They are also willing to sell anyone a puppy with breeding rights that has a few hundred extra bucks to spare. And they advertise "tiny toys" or "t-cups" and crossbreed Pekingeses and poodles. Definitely not a good breeder.
And, did you look at the eyes on some of those pups? I swear they look blind. Pupils pointing in different directions, cloudiness.

That site made me sick! Merle is not a poodle trait that I know of (My x-ml used to breed blue merle shelties) & I do know you NEVER breed 2 merles! Also, if you look closely, most of the dogs shown are filthy! Looks like a bow was supposed to distract you! The Pekes are matted UGH! Too many, too small, too dirty.........
I'm just wondering how she can register AKC 'Merle' Poodles? Is she not being truthful on her reg. apps? I remember years ago after you registered the litter and sold a puppy 'color' was filled in by the new reg. owner's application (puppy purchaser)
Doesn't AKC question the 'merle' coloration? Just curious... it's been years since my mother-in-laws dogs!

Disgusting, all the merle puppies are from merle/merle parents.
You can see the consequences of this bellow.

Scary site, not only are they breeding tiny dogs that don't meet the tpoo standard but they are doing their own peek a poos and all that nonsense about the merle. First no explanation of how they got the merle gene into poodles, nor any justification for why to do it, but then this lame page with explanation of the merle gene with no cautions about problems linked to it and a reference that simply cites the world wide web. My background in science (research Ph.D. in immunology) has me cringing at how bad this is.

I took a quick glance She starts vaccinations at 5 weeks old! Oh it's fine if they have luxating patellas, allergies or"light" heart murmurs to name a few lol. If the dog has temperament probs it's your fault not her breeding! Check out her health guarantee. Really shows just cause you have some champions in your "bloodlines" doesn't mean youre a reputable breeder. Where do I sign up. Most of her dogs don't look that nice either. The pekes are the better looking ones with the exception of the adult she's selling.
