How many times we were stopped :)
In my city is a wonderful paved walking trail up against the foothills. We love walking there with the dogs and so do a lot of people. They provide poop bags and doggy drinking fountains. It is usually heavily used by dog people.
This afternoon (Sunday) it was cool and the sun was shining, perfect walking weather. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the late afternoon. My sister in law with her large white mini and me with Bonnie, Jazz and Echo (I can walk all three now!) went on a long walk. We were quite a sight. Three poodles (one white, one apricot and one black), in three different sizes (a large mini, a small standard and a larger standard) and three different haircuts (sporting, miami and loooong hair everywhere), all freshly groomed with our poodle mascot Echo the whippet in tow. We took up the whole trail and had to step aside when bikes went by.
As we were walking we were stopped or comments made several times and we had only gotten 100 yards or so. We looked at each other and I said devilishly, "Let's count how many times people comment on our dogs." We giggled and walked 4 miles. In that four mile walk we were either stopped by people or told what beautiful dogs we had 14 times! One man with a shephard hollered across the way- "What a beautiful black standard poodle!!" he he he. Jazz was showing off pretty well today. He did look good. Another lady said, "That is the most elegant dog I have ever seen," while looking at Jazzy. Pretty soon I decided that poor Bonnie, Echo and Chili were being ignored until a lady asked, "Is that a whippet? He's beautiful." Then another one loved Chili's size and asked all about him and ignored mine, so they all had their turn.
Wish some of you poodle forum people could join me on the walks. We did not see one other poodle even though we saw many, many dogs.
Sometimes I only want to walk the dogs and not be social, but today was one of those happy kind of friendly days, so it was fun having people admire our pets.

It must of been a sight to onlookers, for sure. And all the different ways your dogs were trimed. Hows that for promoting poodles? Way to go!

I've met two wonderful people in person through this forum! I've very much enjoyed walking with them, I'm sure you can find someone!
And this is the curse of having beautiful dogs!

It's definitely a lot of fun walking with other poodles. I love hearing peoples comments as we pass by, just what they say to their friends or something.
Sawyer's only met one other poodle which was during our fall fair, We stopped and talked to them for about half an hour and people kept stopping by asking if there was a dog show about to start or something lol

I think that is part of the reason I love walking my dogs. I love all the comments . We have a trail much like that one 3 mins from my home. It is paved and follows a creek, mostly in the shade . It is over 30 miles long and only walkers and bikers can use it. We usually go for 2 miles and then turn around and walk the 2 miles back. Carley and Stella always get alot of attention. I think Carley is my prettiest dog, but most of the commenters like Stella best. lol I have seen lots of Doodles, but never another Poodle.

I love walking in my parents neighborhood park because there's a lot of Korean people that exercise in the morning and Shelton is a quite a sight. A lot of Korean ppl have small dogs and although they are familiar with small poodles a lot of them haven't seen a spoo or ever even heard of one and they're always mesmerized by his beautiful coat and his size LOL! My dad of course eats up this attention as much as Shelton does haha

I went to the bank this morning with the DH and we took the dogs with us, and I left the three of them in the car with him. Some women saw the poodle looking out the window so they went over to our car all huddled around it cooing and gushing over him. My husband just sat there awkwardly, it was hilarious. I am making fun of him today telling him that they were looking at HIM not Gryphon.

I wish I had another poodle to walk with. I have only seen other poodles, always small, a handful of times when Lexi and I walk.

Aw fun topic! Outwest, I bet you all were quite the sight to behold! The comments are always fun. I'm like Carley's mom, I think Sookie is my prettiest poodle but she doesn't get any attention on walks because Nova is so overpowering. Her size and spots just make people gravitate toward her. Doesn't help that Sooks isn't to friendly toward strangers, tends to just stand and ignore them where Nova starts wagging her whole body and wants to greet everyone she thinks MAY pay her some attention. She's 28 inches tall and a parti, and everywhere we go people gush over her. The comments are fun sometimes, but sometimes can be a bit overwhelming just by the sheer volume of people that stop us and keep us from getting anywhere!
For the last 3 weeks I've also had a gorgeous black standard female that I was working with for a breeder, and she is super flashy. Where I live I'm lucky to have lots of friends with standard poodles (pinkteaji lives in my town with the lovely Shelton), many of them being in the guide dog training program group that is located here. A few times over the past week I went walking on UGA's campus, since it has nice sidewalks and it's been raining a lot here, with some of my poodle friends. We had 3-4 poodles and sometimes a GSD. It was funny to see the different personalities of people who would stop to talk about the GSD, who was also gorgeous, and the ones who would stop to talk about the poodles. Of course all the poodles are super friendly, but I get so many comments that "we thought poodles were mean!" It's funny to hear what people say.
ETA: Outwest, how is it walking 3 dogs, now that they are all trained to walk nicely? Is it manageable, overwhelming, ?? I'm still looking at the possibility of getting a 3rd spoo in the spring and am trying to get feedback on having 3 dogs. Will be a small spoo, hopefully around Sookie's (Bonnie's) size or slightly larger. No more monster poos for this gal.
