I can't belive what my mini did this morning!
I was reading the paper this morning at the kitchen table. Enjoying a little down time after I had just finished a training session with Max. I had a few left over treats on the table and Max took a quick peak to survey if there was anything on the table that may interest him and noticed the treats.
I didn't pay too much attention to him as he is always checking out the table when he has a chance. So I am sitting there minding my own business reading the sports page when the next thing I know I am staring eye to eye with Max who has just jumped onto the table. He jumped from a standing position and stuck the landing on all four paws like an Olympic gymnast!
This is the first time that he has done this and I was so flabbergasted to see him standing on the table that I just started laughing rather than reprimanding him for being on the table. I had no idea that such a small dog could make a leap like this! We just started agility classes so maybe he was getting in a little practice!

Lol! Those little guys can surprise you. Sounds like he is an ideal candidate for agility though!

LOL! And now of course he is going to perform this trick again and again, but I would have laughed also. So did he get the treats? I think he is going to do great with agility.

LOL! I was in for the same surprise walking in a couple days ago only to find Lucy standing on the table. So hard to be mad at them!

Yes, Maddy has been doing this for some time also. The problem is, once learned, it is extremely hard to stop her! Never when I'm in the kitchen, but my first indication that she's on the table is when her sister Indy is standing in the doorway staring my way with her tail wagging like mad. She's not a very good lookout!

Specman: The way you described Max's stealth acrobatic feat, I could practically see it. You now know firsthand why poodles have enjoyed such illustrious careers as circus performers. They are such clowns! I'm glad my mpoo hasn't tried that stunt. I'm typing this with the screen turned away from him so he doesn't see your post and get any ideas. Too smart and too silly not to love and laugh at, that's a poodle for you! Good luck with your mpoo "the tables are for the people" re-education project.

Wow, a whole new world of counter surfing has just opened up for max. I hope Beau never discovers that he can jump!

Dancer did that while visiting a playmate. Everyone had briefly left the room & when I came back in - my usually perfect pup quickly jumped off the small round kitchen type table as if she knew better. She had eaten half a tub of Trader Joe triple ginger cookies!! It was so difficult to not laugh. Shows that if you are out of sight the rules don't apply. I think she was very proud of herself too :-)

You mean you didn't realize that was normal for a poodle? lol
Imagine my surprise one day when my Doberman did that to me. All 75 pounds of him. Poor table was wobbling something awful and Onyx acted like it was great fun.

Gryphon was taught to jump up onto the grooming table by our groomer. Poor thing isn't really ever quite sure if he should be sitting beside or on them now, LOL.
