In love with her ball
Does anyone else experience their poodle being obsessed with a ball? Not sure if this is normal for poodles. Keeps her ball close by most of the time like it's her baby. Also, loves for me to throw it. Also, any luck in getting adult poodles to enjoy a swim? Mine are afraid of the water.

Max will play fetch all day long if I let him! The crazy thing is that I will be eating dinner and find myself unconsciously playing fetch with him. What I hate is when he stick the ball in your face like "See what I got! You want it right!".

The ball is ABSOLUTELY a motivator in getting them to swim! Make sure you bring a few, or a water dog to get the ones the new one isn't ready to get! Vegas is SO ball obsessed I have to hide all the balls in the house and bring them out when we're ready to play (also increases the value.) Schnauzerpoodle got Vegas a whistle ball for Christmas, I put it on one of the dog shelves (all that stuff is dog stuff pretty much!) and he found it quickly and stared at it for 20 minutes. I had to hide it as well.

Obsessed is the word for sure. I even keep a hand towel over my legs because there is so much saliva from Dex constantly shoving the balls into my lap as I type.

Oh absolutely, Indy loves balls above all other things except maybe cats (interestingly, her sister Maddy couldn't care less about balls). Animal Planet has a cool transparent rubber ball that must feel really nice in her mouth (also squeaks but not too annoyingly), because that's her favorite. In the summertime, Indy loves to swim but Maddy was a little afraid at first. We just supported her body weight and let her kick her feet for a while facing toward shore until she realized that she could swim. After a few times to the beach, she started to love it too. Throwing sticks or balls into the water became a little scary for me though, because Indy would dive for them and it seemed like she would not come up until she got the darn stick or ball. So I stopped doing that after a while!

Oh yes! My Mpoo loved her ball soooooo much she would sleep with it in her mouth, bark, tried to eat and drink with it in her mouth. But only that one ball. We had a dozen, only one would do. She would de-fuzz it, then eventually it would break. She still only wanted that one. I had to sneak it out for the trash.
When she went to the Bridge at 15 1/2, her canines were worn down completely

Oh yea, the barking with the ball in the mouth so funny!! My does the same. She does prefer one over the other, but I throw them out when they split in half, so she soon learns to love another one.

Both of my spoos loved balls over other toys. Mitch especially loved his orange Cuz ball! highly recommend these balls, they last for a LONG time.
