Party Poodles
We had a party here last night (family member moving to China) and the girls were soooo good! They got a lot of attention (freshly groomed for the occasion), but, man I cannot say enough how much I am enjoying their adult personalities...puppies are great but last night there was food and drinks everywhere, and no poodles were stealing food off plates, racing around bouncing off the walls or jumping on people. It was wonderful! On another note, we are getting said family member's cat while he is in China, and long ago this cat swore out a blood oath with my daughter's Abysinnian cat. Oy, it could be interesting!

How old are your poodles now? Leroy still acts like a crazy poodle. We joked how he was the easiest puppy ever, and he's more difficult now that he's an adult! haha
Good luck with adding the new cat! I just adopted a cat yesterday - introduced the new cat to the dogs first, they are always easier and more accepting. I am slowly introducing the new cat to my current cats by scent only first. My goal is to include the new cat in our Santa photos we do every year (we are planning to do them this coming Monday!). Wish me luck, I hope no one ends up killing each other!

Cool! What kind of cat did you get, a persian? They often have calm personalities. We have an 18 year old Himalayan and she is so mellow, but the Abby is a pistol, and the cat we will be babysitting (Shelby) is kind of neurotic. I have this room off the front door; it's a laundry room/mud room with a door, so I am going to set up Shelby's room in there with all her things, and I'm putting a cat door in so that she can join the family or have her privacy as she wishes. I HOPE that will work, the Abby is so territorial but she never goes in the laundry room so hopefully she will recognize that as Shelby's room and not hers. Oh, and our dogs are 18 months old now. They've calmed down so much! And when I say "they" of course I mean Maddy

Yes! I ended up adopting a Persian. He is very timid and gentle. I will be introducing him to my male cat first who is more laidback. I worry about my female cat having issues with him.

Nice! My friend has 3 persians and she just loves them! She is a hair stylist (for humans ) and she put her cats in CC's last spring. So cute! She had a good reason for the clips, but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was What colour is yours?

I've been told he's a Golden Chinchilla Persian. I don't know much about all of the Persian coloring, but he's a cutie!
I wanted to dance today cause he actually took treats and even played with a feather stick! He refused treats when I got him and had no interest in even interacting with me. Leroy still gets excited around him, but he seems to calm down once he sees me grooming the cat on a grooming table. Leroy is also really cautious at the same time. He's paranoid about being left alone with the cat. When I leave the room to go to the bathroom, he stays with the cat, but shortly after trots after me really fast with a worried look, like "I wasn't messing with that cat!!"

He's very pretty! I think since he played and took treats already, he's going to settle in just fine. Congrats! p.s ours are scared of cats too...they chase my daughter's cat all the time but at the same time, scared witless of her

To make the adjustment a bit easier try put a touch of Vicks vapor rub on every cats nose ( how you catch them is any bodies guess ) that way they all smell the same. My Mother does this when she introduces a new kitty to her "gang" so far she has had great results
